Installed stock air filter box, have 2 questions

There is a nipple on the right side of the box (if you're standing facing the engine bay. I'm assuming there is supposed to be a vacuum line on it?

What are the two "boxes" under the air intake hose running from the filter box to the throttle body? The first in line is a plastic box held on by a rubber tube and hose clamps. The second is a metal box that has at least one vacuum line running out of it.

Please forgive my ignorance but feel free to laugh.

the first pic seems normal and the second is when water goes in your intake it goes in there and it also acts like a silencer for your intake so you dont hear it as much and the metal box no idea

 

I think that is incorrect on the first part. Looking through the FSM online, there is supposed to be an air hose connected to that nipple on the air filter housing. Otherwise, air and dirt will be sucked in through it, completely bypassing the filter and going straight into the intake.

I just cannot find where the air hose goes to.

 

There should be a hose connecting that nipple to a metal line that is behind the radiator and on top of the fan housing. The hose is mayb 8-10" long

 

Oookay. Now we're getting somewhere. I saw that metal line, but there is a hose attached to it already. I'll trace it back and take a picture of where it's coming from .

Does anyone know? I'm gonna be just sucking unfiltered air straight into the intake right now....

 

It definitely has a vacuum hose attached to it on mine. In the meantime at least cap it with something so the engine isn't sucking in dirty air until you figure the hose situation out.

The vacuum hose that is going to the metal line on top of the radiator is coming out of that metal box, the one I pictured above. I still don't know what that box is.

Mine has a hose that goes to the right side of the engine bay next to the fuse box.

 

Thanks. I've figured out what the previous owner did. When he ditched the stock air box, that left the metal tube running on top of the radiator without a vacuum hose.

So, what he did was, he drilled a hole in the metal resonator? that's under the intake tube. He ran a hose from that to the metal vacuum line.

I've pulled that out and ran a vacuum hose from the stock air box to the metal tube. I'll weld a small piece of metal over the hole he bored in the metal resonator tomorrow, and taa-daa, she's good as new.

I popped a CEL when I did all this, but after getting the hoses back right, the light went away after a few minutes of driving.

Sure but I took out my stock air box. Ran the into the intake behind the air flow sensor.
