Is it normal?

Hi,
Has any one experienced on a 08 Tacoma (or other) a loud sound at the shocks when passing bumps at very slow speed? like the inside parts having friction each one to the other. When driving at my kid's school parking lot to drop them, there are several of them and for security purpose we all drive safely and at slow speed, every time after going over a bump and "hitting" the bottom when the front bounces up, that loud sound appears.

Is it normal? or I need to get it check?
Is the front of the Tacoma that heavy? to go all the way to the bottom and make this noise.

Sorry, no problems here.

 

Thankfully, never had that problem myself, but I'd definitely get that checked out by the dealer (if it's in warranty) or another mechanic.

 

I will wait until I see if someone has had an experience like this, but I will not avoid any Dealer visit, the truck it currently has 1,600miles and since 200miles I have been experiencing this.

 

I would take that thing straight to the dealer. Use that warranty for all it's worth.

This picture is from the other side, Falcon Lake (same Río Grande), it was 9lbs 1oz. And there is a plan to go again on the 24th on Full Moon, as this one was caught on those days almost a month ago, water level is great and the new shore after gaining millions of gallons of new water (and fish) is coming with huge amount of fish.

I hope this next outing is as good as the las one.

Love that bass, too. Us Yankee's don't see many that big, although every once in a while someone will catch a 8-9lb fish but they are very rare, unlike Falcon Lake.

The best of all is that this fish was caught from a air-chair (like those used for fly fishing) about 130 meters from shore, when both my Son and I where at the same time in it having fun in the water, I saw it jump about 30 meters away from us and I did not doubt it, throw my 10in worm (in a Texas presentation), at the first time it seemed it was stuck but oh surprise when it jumped the first time, after I grabbed it with my hand and my son pull out the anchor… the problem was to paddle all the way back to the shore with my Son, Fish, my self and the damn rod hanging on one mesquite branch at the middle of the whole distance (you have to impulse your self backwards), the only thing you want is to LAND the little monster before it gets away.

But hunting is also closed to open on the Mexican side and after this next and probably last fishing trip we are going for some nice bucks all the way until end of February.

All of these... of course with the TACOMA.

Could it be possible that the mud flaps are hitting the ground?

 

Way to Go Worm! !!!! That is the best off the cuff diagnosis I've heard in a long while That really makes sense! !!!

 

My magic 8 ball says your outlook is bleak, because I have no such noise when I hit the speed bumps at work, or any bumps for that matter. Not to "dis'" the theory of your mud flaps dragging the ground, how about the next time you go to said school, put a piece of tape on the bottom of your flaps and see if they are scuffed.

 

I just happened to be in a shopping center that had speed bumps and as I was going over them I heard a strange sound. I thought at first that I was bottoming out so I watched in the reflective glass on one of the stores as I went over the next one and shure enough the mud flaps were hitting the pavement. I had gone over other speed bumps in other locations with no trouble. That is one reason I got the leveling spacers. Hasn't happened since.

 

I have had that same problem with the front mud flaps hit pavement when going over a speed bump. It only does it when you go over a tall speed bump at just the right speed. The flaps are definately to close to the ground.

 

I know the mud flaps are way long, I already damage one from the front when going reverse on mid size hole, but is now been replaced.

The loud sound I mentioned is when the front of the truck is going up, when the strut is releasing the whole weight, and is doing it on over the average height bumps, this sound does not happens when small or medium size bumps at a normal speed, on these is like a silk.

But once the dealer's service department take over it I will notify you all about the results.
