Sway bar disconnect?

Can I just unbolt it and pinch it up or will it fall down and brake something. I just want it off for wheeling tonight

 

Not worth the risk. Take the extra 10 minutes to unbolt the supports and just drop it out. 1/2 hour of work to save you tons of $$ and grief.

take it off completely...you won't want it back on anyway

 

Had mine off for about 2 months as well. I put it back on after getting my plate bumper and winch installed because I was topping out the passenger side tire into the wheel well during big bumps due to the amount of travel I had on that side. The driver's side never hit because I had the top plate spacer in to compensate for the taco lean. I'll probably take it back off again once I put on stiffer springs in a couple months.

 

There's pix around here somewhere of a 2nd gen punctured CV boot from a sway bar that was disconnected but not removed...

I'm gonna try taking mine off after I do my body mount chop next week.

I just took my sway bar off and driving around town at a reasonable pace its tough to even notice a difference. I think my threshold for taking it off would be about 10/90% for off/onroad.

 

So out of 10 times you drive your truck. 9 of those times is off road? lol Just sayin.

 

If you think about leaving it off for highway driving, please go someplace safe and try several maneuvers such as sudden avoidance maneuvers (like trying to whip around a cone in your lane and right back into your lane) and sudden hard stops while turning or attempting to avoid an obstacle.

You should know what it's going to handle like in an emergency without the sway bar if you're going to be driving it that way on-road.

 

Take it off you wont even notice had mine off for about 7 months now love it with out it !

 

yup mine wont be going back on ever and i drive 600+ miles a week on the highway avg speed 80mph....offroad=whenever i can....i love it off, alil lean on backroads but also much smoother

I wonder if you left it on would your spindle have bent?

 

^^^i think he really just shouldnt have tried to baja over a 2 foot rock at 15mph and his spindle would have been fine haha

 

So takin one end link totally off would still interfere with moving parts?

 

is there any concern with the length of our brake lines or ABS? I'm running King shocks...

I used to have a Land Rover and any extended travel required longer brake lines.
