many are concerned. look at consumer sales of small cars, and values - through the roof with the gas price increase.

I'm all for some extra mpg, but if they achieve this by implementing electric hybrid technology we might as well hand in our man card at the dealership and snip the balls bc as they say there is no replacement for displacement and torque is what puts you back in your seat. The 4.0 (both single and dual VVT-i) may be a mid-size engine but it can def. be tweaked to pump out mid 20's in town and upper 20's on the highway. If they can put a 3.5 in the RAV4 at 269bhp and 246ftlb with upper 20's mpg, then they can do the Tacoma owners some justice and UP the efficiency.

I agree with everybody that the most important improvements that have become a necessity are the upgraded 4.0 and a 6 speed auto. So before people start getting excited about the 12's, be aware of what you're really getting........which is basically the same ol' shit with a new smile.

Granted I love Tacomas and the current one is still badass!! Just my 2 cents on page 35 of this thread that I've following since March.:mudding:Keep the faith!!

That engine oil cooler is part of the current towing package. It's a donut-shaped piece sandwiched between the oil filter and the engine (basically oil-to-water intercooler). I've seen similar coolers on Honda sport bikes, where the oil does the majority of the engine cooling because it can get underneath the piston heads.

Surprisingly enough I haven't felt the need for heated mirrors on the Taco. My last car needed the mirror heat to be turned on pretty much 100% of the time in the winter. Maybe it's aerodynamics or some anti-fog coating.

you can, just get that in writing and bring it to the dealership and tell them at financing that you want a better deal and they'll do it. They want your business.

Does Toyota have a history of making a change like this for just one year? Meaning, will the do this for 2012 and then come with a completely redesigned Tacoma in 2013?? With a different engine and tranny??

The sad thing about that is shes just standing there, not doing anything about it.
Kind of like toyota and releasing information on the new tacoma.

Since they're apparently just changing the looks of the front end and adding a few colors, then I highly doubt that the 3rd gen Taco is gonna come any time soon.
Take the 1st gens for example. They pretty much did what they are doing now back in 01. Restyled the front end, headlights, and a few years later our 2nd gens came out in 05. My guess is that we won't probably see a complete redesign until 2015 at the earliest.

I agree. this 2012 refresh is to buy more time using rhe current platform. There may be an all new Ranger and Colorado coming out that will be light years ahead if the rumours are true

Some of those rumours are false... the Ranger has been discontinued.

The Ranger will be all new, just not offered in the US (I'm not sure about Canada, though). The current North American Ranger will be discontinued.
