Help with front axle seal

    How do I pull the seal out without damaging anything or getting any debris int the diff.

    I tried to change my seal the other day and I wasn't sure how to get the seal out either. Mine is on the passenger side. Hopefully somebody can help us out.

    Mine is driver side. I tried to pull it out by hand. Well that didnt work out to well.lol

    Hitch and wiring, aux back-up light, rear strobe lights, radio and underseat sub.
    There are seal pullers for that job, but it will always mangle the seal. You always replace a seal when you replace a shaft, even if it looks good or doesn't get mangled. It's $10 insurance for no leaks.

    You can use a prybar too, if there's room. Center the new seal and drive in with a block of wood that is of the same size. Do not mangle or deform the seal installing it. Get a spare if you have doubts.

    Slide hammer works well (if you have one).

    I popped mine out with a prybar with tape on the ends of it so as to not score anything. There's plenty of space to get in there with spindle/hub out of the way.

    Having the right tool would sure make it a lot easier lol. I changed both passenger and driver side cv axles and only the passenger side started leaking.

    The seal after pulling the cv axle out that goes between the differential and the axle.

    Is there any easy way to get to this seal, or do you have to pull apart your front suspension and pull the cv axle out that way?

    I noticed my drivers side was leaking the other day so I guess I too will be getting to do this once to cools down a bit!

    Pulling the axle is not difficult by any means. But yes, you have to pull the axle to get to the seal. You can wiggle around the coilover, but its only 4 bolts to pull the coilover out and it makes life easier so I suggest pulling the coilover off as well.

    I figured out the axle seal, the seal puller tool is very helpful. The metal part of the seal was rusted and became one with the differential so that really threw me off on changing out the seal the first time. I thought the seal was apart of the differential or something lo.

    can somebody give me the correct toyota seal part number, i went today to my local stealer and they gave me the wrong one , i am so tired of the run around and my guy at the parts counter is a sob, please

    And for you guys pushing the seals in use seal drivers! Makes life a lot easier and you won't damage the seals. Also this is huge and took me 1 month and 4 sets of seals. The driver side push the seal all the way in till it stops. Push the seal all the way into the differential. As for the passenger side just push it in just enough so there is like an eighth of an inch of metal outside of the seal. So basically just push the passenger side in so there is a small lip of the outter housing showing. This is super
    Important because if you push it in to far you will leak every drop of oil right out the seal.
