Yeah UCA's are a pain you have bend the sheet metal to get that dam bolt out. Toyota didn't think about removing them when they installed the UCA's before the body went on.

Ah the wonders of the assembly line. Once you bend the flange, the bolt still drags on the interior of the fender. This is what hung me up. I used a bfm and a 1" piece of rebar to create space

Curious, do you have to remove the coilovers to R/I the UCAs?

Keep a rag handy and wrap it around the factory UCA before you remove the bolt. Once tension is off the bolt, it will collapse and put a mark on your springs. I know that sounds rediculous, but I'm super anal when it comes to my truck;)

Nothing wrong with anal retentive. I wedge a 2x4 between the wheel studs and the ground. Keeps the spindle in place. Works every time.

When I installed my UCA's we had to remove the battery so we could remove the bolt.

    Yes we did. :D

I don't think that's necessary. I've never seen a UCA bolt not come out. They are greased and there's plenty-o-room to put a breaker bar on it if it's stubborn.

Depends on the truck. If you pull the fender liners you can. A lot of the LT guys pull the liners and have those bolts on and off a lot, but for a one time gig, not needed.

    Oh....and one more thing.....

Probably for leaf spring bolts, but I personally have never seen the need to cut a UCA bolt.

    .
Hey guys and gals, the Concord through crew check in please for our meet at Concord ave/Willow pass safeway at....7AM sharp! That gives us a little time to introduce ourselves and get that first (in my case, second), cup of coffee. I was thinking that of those of us that have not already brought something (Babytrucks has pasta salad right?), we could see if we could pool our resources and round out what food/drink we need for mod day. 10 buck from three of us buys a bunch of food/ drinks. Last I read i think there were maybe three or four of us going to meet there?
