    Well put.

I thought the exact same thing....after I dropped the oil pan. Unfortunatly I had no idea exactly how....ahem....fucked the motor actually was. But I have an insurance adjuster, a tow truck driver and my wife that can testify to it! :D

Alvin came over for a little bit after work to help out. We ended up mostly bullshitting and drinking beer, which was absolutely fine by me.

Got the old motor off the stand. Put the new motor on the stand and started putting it together. I swapped wiring harnesses, motor mounts, and my timing belt cover (its already notched for the supercharger, and installed a new 130 amp alternator, new oil filter, and of course, the supercharger. It's ready to install back in the truck now.

Ok. Engine is in. It really was stupid easy...you know...when something is "too easy." More on that in a second. Most the harness is all connected back up to the body pieces. Just need to run it through the firewall and that will be done. A/C an power steering is back on. Fuel and vacuum lines are good to go. Flywheel, clutch and pressure plate all back in.

Everything was just a snap....and then we got to the transmission. It's just too big and bulky to try install it with just a floor jack. The transmission adapter thingy i borrowed is too tall to fit under the truck. I'm going to end up just buying a motorcycle jack tomorrow. I'm slightly pissed off at the moment. I learned a long time ago when you get to the point of frustration I'm at right now, it's best to just stop for a while.

There is good news about not getting the transmission in is. I just realized I read the torque specs wrong on the flywheel. They are only torqued at half what they need to be so I need to pull the pressure plate and clutch off again and fix that. Not touching the damn truck right now though....

    EDIT:
Not going to kill myself under this truck. I'm buying this tomorrow

Having the right tool for the job makes all the difference. I bought that transmission jack. Harbor Freight had it on sale for $140 out the door. I had the transmission up and attached to the motor in less than 45 minutes including assembling the jack. It was super easy with that thing. Money well spent, even if I only use it once.

Hooked up the rest of the wiring, radiator hoses, fan, alternator/supercharger belt, exhaust, starter, the rest of the wiring, filled the transmission, transfer case, radiator and added oil. Dropped in the battery, and by my calculations, that's all I needed to test fire it.

I'd love to say that the SOB fired up the first shot. It didn't :(

It eventually started but had zero throttle reponse and would not stay running. It would run for a couple seconds and then die. I hooked up my scan tool and I threw 8 different check engine lights. And they were all over the damn place. TPS, MAF, Coolent temp. None of it made any sense to me.

I swapped throttle bodies with the one my new motor came with thinking maybe I fried the TPS with all the water I sucked in. Still, same problem. A little irritated, I walked away for a few minutes, came back and started looking things over. Found the number 1 plug on the ECU wasn't clicked in all the way. Pushed it in all the way, and, well....this was the second try:

And in case you havn't figured it out, I'm one happy man right now. :D

I know I sound like a fucking retard but I was so freaking happy. My truck has been dead for like 7 weeks now and its finally running again. And I did the work on my own.

How do you think I feel?!?!?! I haven't been able to sleep at night thinking about this damn project. Now that it's running, I'm too excited to sleep. :goingcrazy:
