Sounds like what my dealer told me.He said to expect them from jan 1 to march 1 depending on delays and they expect many delays.Said they would be surprised if they made it by march 1 if it went like changes to their other redesigns.I think 2012 will be a short year with the redesign being a 2013 if there is long delays.

    Just the basics
Wow actually having a model vehicle released the same year it is named...I can't recall the last time I've seen that happen.

Man I hope that is not true... I have been stalling on getting a new truck now since April because of these rumors about the new 2012... I thought I was almost done (figured Sep/Oct time frame they'd show up). Now Jan-Mar... holy crap!!!!!!!!:mad:

I seriously doubt Toyota would go through the trouble to redesign the hood, fenders, bumpers and grill of the 2012 with interior changes and modifications to the materials to include possibly leather and more water resistant seats. simply to redesign the entire thing the next year...while struggling through a tough time with the earthquake, parts production, and trying to get the San Antonio plant up to full speed.

A complete redesign cannot simply be a sudden event to happen in one year in my opinion. It would take time for the research and development to make the change worth it. Toyota is still quality and hold their value for a long time and therefore do not historicly change designs from year to year.

That being said, I don't know why anybody would think a complete redesign would happen as soon as 2013 if the changes we are anticipating from the info on this site are to be true. I think for a complete redesign would potentialy be no sooner than 2014 but probably not until 2015 to see how the consumers like the changes from 2012. This is only further speculation from some guy on this site, "me," that really has no clue to the facts. Just looking and the Toyota redesigns of the past. I don't doubt that there will be more mods and improvements until a complete redesign, but body and interior complete changes...not likely in my opinion...but more cup holders on the other hand, very possible.

Its the 2012 minor redesign I think will end up maybe being a 2013 because of delays.I don't think the 2012 will be much different than the 2011.They made gauge changes mid year of the 2011 model. Why would the do that for only half of a year unless it was intended to be carried over into the 2012 model.I agree that a complete major redesign will be between 2014 and 2016 and there will be major changes to comply with the new cafe laws.new engines, transmissions and more streem lined to cut through the wind.

I see what your saying, if they are too slow to release it in 2012 due to delays, they may release the newer design as the 2013 model. If you can't order a 2011 after Sept 15th, I hope they would be commited to the next styling for order after that...again, I hope I can get it before Christmas otherwise it's two trips to CA for me. But then again, I love CA.

If its released in March next year....maybe it will be a 2012.25 model.

I just bought a 2011 DC SB Sport, and the dealer told me that the changes listed in that pdf are not 100% confirmed.
The big changes will happen on the 2013 model.

Where did the dealer get the info about the 2013 model? I cant imagine toyota going through, changing the headlights, fenders, hood and grill for one model season, unless the 2013 contained the same front changes and then some adjustments to the rear. Even then that seems unlikely.

This is so maddening. I need a truck right now so badly and I keep waiting on the 2012s... now not only will I have to wait till maybe March, but even then it's not confirmed there will be changes???? ARRGGHH!!!

Maybe I should just go down and order a 2011 exactly as I want. At least then I'd be waiting for something tangible!!! Ugh! :)

I'm waiting still. Remember toyota still hasn't said crap officially so who really knows when it will be available.

I'm with you elytravis. I've decided 100% on buying a new truck, so now its just a matter of waiting for info on the 2012's. Oh well, at least these next few months of waiting will let me save a bit more.

Info on the 2012's should be out by at least September, right? Right...?

I want kind of an oddball combo (I4/4x4/AC) that is hard to find. I've only found one in the whole Phoenix Toyota dealer inventory and it recently sold... so I would probably have to order one. If there were several around that I could pick & choose from I'd probably have done it by now... but the hassle of the ordering & waiting keeps me thinking I might as well just wait for the 2012s. But it is getting a bit exasperating with all the speculation and lack of real info... just trying to be patient.

If it does come out relatively soon that the 2012s are going to be basically the same as the 2011s, just delayed for (maybe) reasons associated with the earthquake/tsunami, I will just go order a 2011 before the Sep 15 cutoff.

However, I really do believe the 2012s will be cosmetically a bit different and I would like to wait and see what they will look like before pulling the trigger. Just getting tired of waiting... as I said above... I really need a truck right now. Have several projects underway where having a bed would be a real benefit (trying to jam stuff in my wife's Jeep Commander is a real PIA).

Minor body changes one year and new engines and transmissions the next year? Don't make since but Ford did that. 2009 body redesign and 6 speed transmission and the all new engines in 2011. I think they just did not have the engines ready for the 2009 redesign as I think new engines and transmissions are not quite ready for a Tacoma 2012 redesign. They may not even use the 4 Runner 4.0 as the next V6.They may be working on something better to conform to the new cafe rulings. The very minor redesigned 2009 tacoma came out in june of 2008.I don't know why they even called it a redesign.

I just bought my 11 trd off road and was considering waiting for the 12 model, but the dealer said there wouldn't be any changes due to all the stuff going on in Japan. Matter fact out here in Ca you can't even find certain Taco's cause the factory productions delayed from the quake. If there was going to be a change I'm pretty sure it would've been out by now cause when I worked for a dealer in the past I know that all the higher ups got to go to special "track days" to become familiar with all the new features before they hit the dealership.
