And yes, despite whatever peoples beliefs are, this should be the backbone of it all, and most religions do have this is the driving force in the faith; they just suggest that these morals are demanded by a higher power.

Personally being raised in the south and being black, i was pretty much exposed to just The African Methodist Religion. Growing up i remember i never understood anything that went on in our small church (less than 30 members). Then when i was 16 (one year ago) i decided that i didnt believe in Jesus. Or anything like him. I think i'd fall into the Agnostic category because i think there's a God and some opposite (devil whatever you want to call it). I think that being religious is just another way of dividing people and making space for judgement of others and conflicts. The war is just one of many examples of this. I think im a good person and i respect each religion for the good morals and actions they wish to evoke upon their believers. My parents dont know im agnostic and i think it'll be better that way. I dont know what happens when you die. No one does we can just live our life and whatever happens happens. i just want to live a good and just life and give back to the world in anyway i can. Besides you only get one life, may as well make it count. Sorry about the rant. I like seeing topics like this because people can open up and express themselves.

    Catholic, FTW.

Edit: Not to be racist, but I really did click ChamYota's build and only looked at the picture of him. Officially the first black guy I've seen on TW! I'm a minority where I live -- suuuuper white on a border town with 86% Hispanic.

........and a big welcome to the melanin enhanced fella to TW:D There's no white in my book.....just 'less black' people......not really any such thing as white just like there is no such thing as cold, or dark for that matter.......anyone want to argue about that? I don't, but make sure and learn about Melanin, and absolute zero before you reply.

Cam, why wouldn't you tell your parents how you feel?....they can't 'force' anything on you. Don't be ashamed or scared of your beliefs(even though I dissagree with them:p).......just don't let the Holy Spirit get the burden of conviction on your heart. You know what I'm talking about.;)

Haha! i know theres no such thing as black or white! i've never seen a "white" person( very close to white though) or a "black" person. I wont tell them until i move out. that way they cant force their beliefs down my throat like i know they will. Im well aware of the "fear" that if you rebuke the holy spirt you Condemn yourself to an eternity in hell. if thats the case then i guess im going to hell. if its even real to start with. I have no fear of what happens when you die. Maybe this heaven/hell thing or maybe nothing. Either way im just gonna live my life. the afterlife is unimportant to me.

I probably understand why you don't want to tell them till you move out. My parents were very strict and had expectations. I want to raise my kids to know God, but I also want them to feel that now that they make their own decisions as far as their beliefs, that they can discuss them with me, without fear, any thoughts or concerns they have even if they are under my roof. We can still co-exist if they were to stray, it's just that they would still have to listen to my prayers at dinner and bedtime whether they believe in God or not.:D And they better be ready for some philosophical discussions..........And I can pray for them, and you, and I can't be stopped.:p

I don't think you lose your salvation easily. But it's not for us to judge. And I was referring to the Holy Spirit that will talk to you as you take this journey trying to stear away from God. You will have a hard time not listening.

Great talking with you brother. See you around the 'World'.:D
