This morning some guy still drunk from the night before ran into me at a stoplight. I didn't even hear or see him coming but it wasn't bad. Id say like 5mph

At 1st glance all I noticed was a ding in the chrome bumper. I told him to pull off to the side so I could get his insurance info even though most likely nothing was wrong. I would have called the cops on his DUI ass but I didn't want to be stuck there for 30+ minutes when I needed to be working.

Im glad I got his info because once I got to the jobsite I took another look and noticed the plastic on the center of the bumper (where a ball would go on other vehicles) was cracked... so I figured I would call him tomorrow and ask for 50 bux to order another one or something. Well just a few minutes ago I was looking over everything again and noticed the bumper on the driverside of the truck is about an inch closer than the passenger side. (the driverside is where the ding is and apparently took most of the force)

So Im headed to the Bodyshop tomorrow for an estimate. Im guessing its just the crush zone in the bumper that have been smashed on that one side.

Anyone else had this happen ( 5mph or so crash) and had to get this fixed?

when i read the title i was hoping to read about some hot guy on guy action....no homo... lol. well good thing is you werent injured, and the truck wasnt effed up. take off the bumper to find out what is really damaged. i doubt it can be a frame damage as it was a slow hit, but ya never now. go to the shop and call dude up. i think you have to report an accident witihin 24 hours of an accident (dont quote me) and you should have called the cops to get a reort done. now the insurance agency has something to hold against you if worse comes to worse. good luck man;)

Anyone else know anything about this report in 24hr business??? I didn't know about this! Hopefully the guy would be thankful enough that I got him out of a DUI to not give me a hassle.

I think it depends on the insurance company... I think here in BC it's 72 hours. Personally, if he was drunk I would have called the cops right then and there. I have no tolerance for those people, and I don't want them on my roads.

GO THROUGH THE INSURANCE. I've tried the whole getting cash outa the guy before and it never works out smoothly. Some guy rearended my transam. about 300 bucks to repaint the bumper and he kept giving me excuses why he couldn't pay. I had to threaten going to the police and filing a hit and run for him to finally cough up the money. Every time I've gone through insurance it's been painless and easy.

Trust me I am with you about the drunks, the passenger made a comment to me that he told the driver that he(driver) should let him(passenger) drive. I said that would be a good idea right NOW and the guy(passenger) went and jumped in the drivers seat... I don't see why the idiot driver wouldn't have let him drive from the begining.

But I did not have time to deal with cops and hope that the kid learned his lesson. I have already been doing some research just from his name and have learned that his is in a frat. So if he gives me any problems then I will take this straight to his president who would not be happy about one of his brothers out DUI'ing and hitting people.

And I do plan to go through his insurance unless he forks up the money upfront right when I give him the quote.

Let's hope he doesn't kill someone or himself next time..you should have taken the time to call the police and let them deal with him properly.

Guys, I understand ya'ls stance on drunk driving... trust me I am right there with you. This is the 3rd drunk driver I have been hit by. I constantly get on to my friends and other people I know about driving under the influence and have called the cops on many people. So please try to drop the fact that I let this one guy go because I was in a super huge hurry that was work related.

The reason I posted this thread was to see if anyone else had their rear bumper lightly hit and gad to get the crash dampening mounts on the bumper replaced and how much I should suspect it costs. Please no more lecturing, you're preaching to the choir.

Some a$$hole backed into the passenger-side of my rear bumper while I was at work one day. I had no way to catch the bastard, as he was just outside the surveillance camera's range. He hit it hard enough to dent in the whole corner of the bumper and push it within centimeters of the bed. The chrome is still good and it didnt hurt the bed, but it to this day(happened over a year ago) I wish I could find the culprit and dent him alittle. Lol. Good luck getting it fixed!

I got backed into by and old Nissan p/u full of illegals while on the road! This guy decided to throw it in reverse goin down the road. So after he hit me he took off. I got out and noticed that the skid plate was bent, so I got in the truck and took off after him. He finally pulled over and proceeded to give me $400. Only damage was the OEM offroad skid plate (not even that noticeable). Still crazy!
