They are trying to Ban Pit Bulls

Well I was wondering when this time would come, they are trying to ban Pit bulls here in Vermillion Parish. They are proposing the bill here in the next few weeks, but my letters are going out tonight and tomorrow. Wish me luck!

they tried passing that several times in different locations in alabama. People just kinda laughed and shrugged it off. Not a chance man, in the right hands pits are just as great as any other dog around.

I hate breed-specific legislation. I (actually my parents now) have a Bull Terrier - Lab mix (looks like a black Spuds McKenzie with a little lab in the face) that's as harmless as they come. She was abused so she barks at strangers as she's running away from them and they still act like she's a monster.

My brother has a Veeshla-Pit mix in CA and it is the most well-behaved, kind-natured dog you'll meet. Even many of the local markets let him come in with my brother.

Good luck fighting the good fight. Sad thing is many people chalk this type of thing up as "it'll never pass" and don't do anything to make sure it doesn't. Then they're surprised when it goes through. Good work on exercising your rights in a democracy.

 

This goes w/ any dog!!! And this is what the media doesn't understand. Bull breeds in general get a bad rap. If you want to beat the system, just tell people its an American Staffordshire Terrier. The ones that are complaining about Pits will not know the difference.

You're right. But the list of bull breeds is pretty extensive, http://www.bulldogbreeds.com/bullbreeds.html. It's funny that most bull breed owners are very educated about the particular breed they own.

Yep. The legislation usually includes all mixes that have a "noticeable portion of a banned breed" meaning a dog that looks like a bully breed, despite genetics.

 

Well now this morning I called my police juror, he was my bus driver when I was a kid and has remained a friend of the family, so he told me my best bet would be to address the members at their meeting this up and coming Wednesday. So I have written up a whole new set of stats and info on why this won't work. I'll be practicing and correcting from now until then. Wish me luck, hopefully I don't lose my temper as this is as important to me as my right to bare arms. How can you take a so called free person and tell them what the can and can't own?
