Hey guys, my bro in laws 2000 xtracab Tacoma has TRD stickers on it but no diff lock button. Can it still be a TRD? I told him I didn't think it was but that I wasn't 100% sure, is there anything I can look for?

P.S. I am a professional party pooper: I do corporate events, bar mitzvahs, christenings...

I always thought trd meant the towing package and other things and sr5 was with the locking rear.... could be wrong

It should have a button on the dash that says RR diff lock to the left of the steering wheel. If it has a mangle of shit on the drivers side of the rear diff its a TRD, thats the e-locker. The TRD package also came with billy's.

No. TRD offroad was a package. SR5 was just 4x4 i think.

Check the dash for the Diff lock button as said. Also came with a nicer interior.

TRD offered progressive coils, bilstien shocks, and a e-locker

SR5 is a trim level that offered such things as electric locks/windows/etc

then I have no idea what Limited added...because mine is NOT limited and IS color matched

I was always under the impression that the color matching was an SR5 add-on

you're also in the 1st gen section there hoss, with your 07

It's an 89 Toyota Pickup. I got some stuff done to it.. FJ axles going under it soon.
That's bullshit on SR5 IMO...my truck is fully manual everything w/ no tilt wheel and it's an SR5 truck...came with original badging plus vin shows so..

Maybe the 'Sr5' package changed in 01+ though

I think there has always been some discussion as to just what SR5 added

I'm just guessing honestly and going by what i've read over the past 6 years online...and what I own

Mines a SR5, no color match. I reckon Toyota just slapped some stuff together, no rhyme or reason.
