Ok this is my first post to tacoma world. I have a choice between two trucks (i have both of them right now but not sure which one i want to keep). Both trucks are ext. cab as I really don't like 4 doors in any trucks. I understand im posting to a tacoma website and will probably get all tacoma answers. The most i ever haul is a trailer with a couple dirt bikes on it. I don't need the v8 but the room in the cab is nice. On the other hand 90% of the time its just me in the truck and about 8% just me and one other person. But on the other hand the tacoma only gets about 3 mpg better why would it make since to pick the one with less room and less options?

2005 F-150 lariat ext. cab fully loaded 4x4 85,000 miles
2005 Tacoma trd sport access cab 4x4 6 speed manual 95,000 miles

If you don't need the size and extra load capacity of the F-150 definitely keep the Taco.

Sounds like you know the answer already. Slightly better MPG, Toyota quality, no need for the F-150 hauling/towing ability. Dump the Ford and enjoy the Toyota

The Tacoma will hold it's value better and still do everything you need it to do, I'd lose the F-150.

Fords are killed super easily. Toyotas... not so much. I had an F-150 and a Ranger, but hit a point where they needed repairs daily, around 100k. I have a Tacoma, Tundra, and Prius now. The Prius is at the 110k mark now, and hasn't needed a damn thing, the Tacoma is at 93k, and also hasn't needed anything (except routine maintenance of course). A Toyota is just a quality made vehicle, and really puts American made to shame, sadly, with what comes stock.

    Just my $0.02.

I appreciate all the replys. Im still just indecisive. The F-150 is a much nicer truck but i know ALOT of people with tacoma and have yet to hear ANYTHING bad about them at all.

Exactly. Ten years down the road the ford will be worth 1/4 of what it is now. The Tacoma will most likely be more then half maybe even 3/4 what you paid for it. Tacoma deffinetly. Plus the AC looks way sick modded. Choose wisely. :D like its a hard choice.

Just one thing that bothers me a little about the tacoma is that the bed is plastic. Does this bother anybody else?

I haven't had a problem with mine. It bothered me when I first bought it because I'd never had a plastic bed before. Now, after almost 4 years of wear and tear, it's still in great shape so I've got no reason to believe it'll fail on me.

Just to be fair go on a F150 forum and see what they say. It should be interesting to see how much they trash the Tacoma.

PS - I could have bought the ranger for 5K less. I asked my mechanic (friend of mine) and he said 5k less now.
