To the subwoofer crew.

Supp guys. Right now Im running JBL door speakers. Double din pioneer in dash, and a JL 10 w1 I beileve... Anyways my box is a breather and its huge. So Im thinking about getting another JL 10 and run a 250.1 JL amp to each. However I want to make boxes that fit on my floor. For each side. What wood do I use to make these boxes enhance sound for the subs? And what do I seal the sides with?

 

I believe just about all the pre-made sub boxes are made of MDF...just throwing that out there. Most are just sealed (inside) with silicone caulk.

 

Where can I find MDF?

 

Most hardware stores/lumber yards... Home Depot, Lowes ect-

 

You have a long hard road ahead of you, I would suggest that you look at some pre-fab enclosures already made for your truck. They are expensive, but in the long run it is almost always worth it compared to learing the hard way through trial and error.

 

Anything you know of online where i can find pre made boxes that'll fit our trucks?

I just looked on ebay and the have some good looking boxes for really great prices, this would probably be your best bet. Good luck on your search. I love loud music and went all out on mine.

 

Probox makes a loaded box to go behind the back seat. It has two 8s in a ported box. You dont have to cut any of the car seat tabs out or anything else. Sounds pretty good but if your looking for something that people can hear you coming this is not a good option. Its more of a sound quality setup.

Unless you know alot about acoustics, sound wave displacement and air needed for your subs, I'd forgo building your own box. There is a lot more involved then just building an enclosure.

Marv does a fantastic job at a great price. I think some guys have purchased plans from him if you want to go that route to where you have a professionally designed box that you can build yourself.
