Well after now having owned my tacoma for 5 years. I looked up the kelly blue book value and was surprised to find it still over $20,000! :woot: Thats pretty good considering i only paid $26,500 for it. :yay:
I can honestly say that i still love this truck and would not trade it for any other truck on the market. It is the perfect truck for me. Looking forward to see what Toyota comes up with for next year.:) TW rocks!!! :headbang:

I bought my 2008 in march 2010 for 20900. I checked mine last week and mine was 21000 person to person in good condition but I would say mine is really excellent condition. Also my property tax went up on the truck which I was pissed about. I guess it is because of the earthquake in Japan.
Local Toyota dealers here in Charlotte area have used cars and trucks in the showrooms right now....good time to sell I guess?

Tacoma's hold their value like crazy, they are a good vehicle to own as an investment because of it.

Good to hear the resale prices are so good. I just had a guy pull up in front of the house today and asked if I wanted to sell...said he'd pay cash. After he found out it's barely broke in with only 17,000 miles on it he really got persistant. I told him over and over that it wasn't for sale but he insisted on giving me his phone number...dam vultures!

Ill be looking to sell mine or trade it in depending on the 2012's. Kbb has mine at 25k person to person. I got an in at a dealership though so they'll probably come as high as any private sale would.

Kbb is not that accurate. But I guess its a good thing. And its where you live. Here in mass you can find like new trucks for under 19000 all day long.

i understand, but last summer i was thinking about trading mine for a double cab sport and the dealers were offering me $20,000 trade in. So i would think i could still get close to 20 for it. 4x4 Tacoma's are really popular around here. I have the only black offroad 4x4 in the area. There is a couple black sport 4x4's though.

    You are right.....
KBB reflects ASKING prices not selling prices...

Edmunds and NADA are more accurate. KBB is always high.

Resale is what someone WILL HAND YOU TODAY.....not what any Internet site claims. Dealer will offer more but you will never know the ACV unless you ask them to stroke a check for your truck. THEN you will know what they are really offering. Within a new car deal the ACV is well hidden

I paid a Toyota dealer $20,500 OTD for a 2008 DCSB 2WD TRD with $1000 of "accesories" with 24K miles 6 months ago, an "ok" price. Not a steal by any stretch.

I seriously doubt the dealer had much more than $18K in the truck...They were "asking" $23995 which was around KBB. They had four used Tacomas all were priced high. There is always someone who will pay more than they should because it's a Tacoma so dealers price them high and as a benefit they use the high asking prices to sell new trucks.

I have 26K on mine now (Spring Summer Fall on my bike 90% of the time) and doubt I would get much more than $17K in actual cash value on a trade. If anyone offered me $24K in cash today I would be surprised and sell it without hesitation.

What a dealer will give you on a trade and what you can sell to a private party are two completely different things.

I started seriously looking for a new truck when I burned the engine up on my ‘93 SR5 that I had for 17 years. Best I could find, and I was in a hurry cause I was without truck, was $21k for a two year old truck with 70,000 miles. I shelled out an extra $4k for brand new. For the first time in my life, buying new made sense. Used prices are insane. When I was a kid, my father bought a brand new Mercedes for $10,000.

My 2005 Prerunner SR5 DC I just traded had 173,554 miles. The dealer gave me a check for $8000 ( I could have gotten around $10,000 if I sold it myself). I kept the 20" wheels as part of the deal & the dealer had to install the TPS sensors from the 2011 Tacoma's wheels into my 2005 Tacoma wheels.

In 2005 I paid $23000 OTD for my Tacoma.

I bought the 2011 Tacoma DC TRD Sport for invoice. If the tsunami didn't happen, I could have gotten the truck for $1500 below invoice.

I was rear-ended just before I traded. I was hoping the frame was bent & would have gotten $14,500 for a total. But it wasn't.:(

KBB is almost $21,000 for excellent condition.(Wich my truck is in) that may be high, but I still think I could get somewhere in the high teens for it. To the right person.
