Ok cool, I didn't realize you tried that. For what it's worth, mine is still quiet. I'll report back in another month or two.

Thanks again for the writeup and photos. I also agree there seems to be significant variability from motor to motor on what eventually leads to the chirping/squeaking fix.

It's official mine finally crapped out again after less than a month. I completely removed the glove box so that I can access the blower to kick start it every time it doesn't start on command.... sigh...Gonna try the other fixes mentioned above

Oneshot 808. I replaced my chirping fan with the tyc one. After Toyota told me my new fan and silencer kit would be here in april. Never arrived so I said screw it. The silencer kit is just foam, that makes a fan harder to remove if say the new fan craps out but anyway. The tyc one just softly (very softly) clicks, and only when it first starts up. After that, only a slight whirrrrr. I recommend a tyc one. Change ur cabin air filter and clean out the tunnel. To prevent any loose crap already in there from sabotaging your new fan.

Then just install the new one. Check ur resistor too. Then done. And do what any true driver does. Drive with the windows down. My drivers window is down when its over 45 degrees. And as long as it isn't raining. If it's snowing out. Softly. Then it's absolutely open. Albeit, with the heater blowing on my driving hand.

My dealer replaced my blower motor this week under warranty when they did my 10k service. Only had the truck for about 1.5 hours so it must have been a pretty easy job. Can I expect this replacement motor to have issues too?

Unfortunately many of us have the 2nd, 3rd, ... one go bad also. I'm messing with my 2nd one right now. IMO the new one is the exact same as the old.

I am on second motor and it makes the same chirping noises like the first one. It is very annoying especially when driving on highway, blower on low, can't even listen to my radio because of that noise. I complained about it few times when servicing the truck at the stealership but unfortunately i wasn't able to duplicate it at the dealer so i was told they cannot replace it.
The noise is stuck in my head now, i do a lot of driving and that makes me slightly mad:frusty:

Maybe try a new dealer? My service department didn't even ask to listen to the noise. They just said ok bring it in.

Went to 2 different dealers in the past 2 weeks for the chirping. Both said "it was leaves" and they didn't hear anything. It started right back up as I was pulling out of the dealer yesterday. Took it apart myself today. The bearing at the end of the motor was completely seized and there was no lubrication at all on anything. Cleaned the bearing and got it smooth again with some 3 in 1 oil, cleaned out all of the motor brush dust, and used dielectric lube on any metal part which touched rubber and regular lube on any rubber that was touching plastic. It is running a lot smoother now and no chirping. Even though the dealers didn't charge anything since I am under warranty, the 10min DIY fix was a lot easier that wasting gas to drive to the shop.

Had this replaced once already and you were right. The noise came back. Going to continue taking it to the dealer until warranty is up. Maybe they will learn the right way to fix this.

So far this is the only design flaw I've found on my Tacoma. That noise is awful!

i'm on my 3rd blower... first time in they said they put an "insulator" in somewhere. noise came back in less than two weeks. second and third times in they replaced the fan or motor itself, whatever it is. noise returned. fourth time in, they replaced it again... i'm on month number two on the 3rd blower. hope it works because my warranty is almost up, but i wouldn't bet on it. anyone know how much this will cost me to replace after the warranty is up?

Got the chirping issue fixed the same time I got the TSB Springs done - both with no questions asked, and the dealer (Toyota of Kirkland, WA) was very cooperative. No more issues so I'm hoping that it says like this.
