Even the parts that say the Earth is flat, has four corners and rests on pillars? Or the part that says women should marry their rapists? You can't cherry pick the bible, if it's gods word it's gods word. All of it.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Your pain and anger is completely understandable. Remember one thing, you can't be mad at God or blame God unless you believe in God.

That young girl had the free will to do as she chose and we all have that same free will. God will not intervene in our free will.

I read your other post about your loss to my twins last night. I hope it sinks in and they don't text when they start driving. Thanks for sharing your heart here on TW so I could show them the pain and loss created when we as people make bad choices.

You are in my thoughts and prayers and I hope the eulogy is going ok.

I would say it's likely that anyone who considers themselves an atheist has probably already heard of Pascal's Wager and has already dismissed it. Is the feigning of belief really belief? Fake it until you make it?
There's a subtlety here that I think you miss. Unbeliever implies an active condition, i.e. there is no God. This does not encompass all who may not believe in a particular God or the concept of a Creator.
Simple, no one knows. Anyone who tells you different is selling something.
Children already have plenty of hope. That's why they're so easy to manipulate with stories of Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, etc. I prefer to give my child reasoning, critical thinking, and moral guidance.

THe idea of religion to me personally is to invoke Good morales and actions upon it's worshippers and if someone disagrees with your religion then you shouldnt shove yours down their throat and dismiss them as "condemned to hell" or something like that. I've been asking myself what happens when you die. I've come to the conclusion that nothing happens. I think you just sleep and dont wake up. No dream no nothing just sleeping till you decompose away. That in mind i may as well be as "good" as i can be and when i have children(eventually lol) ill teach them to believe in whatever they like. it'll prevent any kind of conflicts.

Why does something HAVE to happen after we die? Personally I think the neurons in my brain will stop firing and I'll cease to exist, that's it, I'll just be gone. I don't think being dead will be any different than what it was like before I was born. I went billions of years without existing and I don't remember it being all that bad.

i'm saying that the person that left that falls under hypocrisy if they in fact say they are a christian.

from their posts on here, it's not fully spelled out if they are or not.

I didn't see a name in the rep, so I wasn't sure how we could assume hypocrisy.

...so it's not fully spelled out if they are a hypocrite, from their posts on here?:p:D

I should shut up hodgey, just feeling picky today for some reason....sorry....

    A few things to consider...
    1) If they are a Christian, they should forgive me and turn the other cheek.
    2) If they are a Christian, it is not their place to pass judgement.
    3) Even if I am, with the current exchange rate, I'm worth slightly less than a Canadian douchebag, so you still have that in your favour.
