i think it's because the fuel pump that he upgraded too sucks so many "LHP" that you risk it too much with less than 1/4 of a tank

A little acceleration through first and second gear. No exceeding of speed limits of course, but it gives you a taste of what it's like. There's a bit of a lag between first and second, but that's because of the gearing, not the blower. (First is pretty tall in these trucks...)

Also, I floored it a good amount and got 17.8-ish mpg. I only floored it a couple times and did mostly highway and got 18.8. This is on 32" all-terrain tires with 40lb sliders, a brushguard, 57 lbs of skid plates, and a 2" lift.

I'm confident that a right foot mod could get me to 20mpg pretty easily, esp with a scangauge or similar. My "before" mpg was 19-20, so there's not much of a drop, except that opening her up is so dang fun.

How's the increase from 1,500 rpm through 2500?

It certainly lugs less at low RPM. sub-2000, you can hold most speeds but it'd be tough to really accelerate. Around 2000 to 2500 is now fairly comfortable for cruising, and 2500-3000 you can actually really get moving now.

man i hate that blow-off valve!! My buddy had that exact one on his sti and i about slapped him every time i heard it! So annoying!!!! haha but good video! take one of the speedo so we can see acceleration in numbers! You say you have stock exhaust right?

and just wondering, but when you shifted into second was that wheel spin or the clutch slipping!!?? Cause if it was a traction problem thats an awesome sign of a big power increase! I got a short shifter and a better clutch and can barely catch second! But if that was all clutch slip then you got problems and any one else with a stock clutch might have problems too

Stock exhaust although my cats are currently temporarily um un-present.

When what happened when I shifted into second?

I think you're talking about my shift into first (at :04). I gave it a rolling start, let it idle, and then hit the gas. I don't want to do a burnout / stress my clutch just for tacomaworld, sorry. :p

Shift to second is at :07 or so.

haha, i wouldnt of done a burnout either! but im talking about your shift to second! sounds like there was about 2 seconds of either wheel spin, riding the clutch, or the clutch slipping! just wondering which one

Well, in that case... Nothing happened. :D First is simply geared a bit low, so there's a bit of a gap between first and second and it takes a second (heh, not trying to be confusing) for second to get enough oomph to go. It may be less noticeable for non-4x4's, since this truck just weighs so much, I've noticed since day 1.

It's a gearing issue that isn't present from second-to-third, etc. I'll get a video getting up to speed on an on-ramp to a 70mph highway or something at some point so I can row through another gear, and I can film the speedo instead.

You're a 4x4 AC, you don't see it now when you floor it?

oh i know the horrible transition gap between 1st and 2nd!!!! Dont worry im right there with you!! but my truck doesnt have a problem with "shifting" into second! Yes its a little under powered and even at 5k in first, a shift into second still means it bogs but thats not what im talking about! When i shift, there is no gap between power being put to the pavement! As soon as i slam it into gear, its in gear! The whole reason i asked is i used to have that problem when i had the stock clutch in and what i gather from it, it was the clutch slipping! As soon as i installed the Centerforce Dual-Friction clutch, the "slipping" problem no longer existed! Now, no matter how fast i shift, as soon as the clutch is fully engaged, its putting power down, no lag!

Hm.. Interesting. Well, I had intended to install a better clutch when this one gave up the ghost, and I'll still probably do so. I don't spend most of my days flooring it, after all.

I would also add a couple things:

    - The supercharger kit does not affect the clutch, it's the same. This issue we're talking about is something you may want to fix if you have a mini truck you want to race or whatever, but it's not critical.

    - My clutch behaves exactly like it did pre-blower.

    - Everybody complains about the stock clutch and the upgrade is supposed to be nice.

    - I did a slip test, FWIW (accelerate in first or second, then upshift to fourth or fifth. If it lugs, your clutch isn't slipping, if the revs go up, your clutch is slipping.) and my clutch is fine, albeit it's a stock clutch, so it's shitty for that reason. :)

Still highly recommend this blower. I'd save for it long before investing in the other mods that haven't really shown to do much good on these, for sure. (Headers, exhaust, intake...) This sucker DOES work and there's no other way you'll get this much power or fun out of your 4-banger otherwise.

That's what I like to hear. I've an automatic but it should still work out good with the charger. Can't wait to get mines!

I've mostly gotten the desire to floor it out of my system, and I've been cruising around town in the 2000rpm range. With the blower, I can now do this comfortably. I totally recommend this setup amigos!
