Fixable frame damage?

Well I had a little incident on the 10 freeway last night going into work and I nearly lost control before getting off the freeway. I was wondering if you guys think this kind of damage is fixable and if it is, is it worth the cost?

 

Yea..it's fixable..and you'll probably want to have it redesigned to cover more surface area on the frame..

 

Who welded that?

because the spring perch is like flipped forward?

EDIT: it actually looks like the frame was torn one of the layers of the c channel

 

Ouch that sucks I would plate the frame in that area and weld on a new spring perch. Itcan be fixed to stronger then new it just shows you how weak these Toyota frames are.

 

I think the relentless kit will help solve the problem.

 

My bad, I meant the Armor Tech Shackle Flip Kit.

 

^ The OP is showing the front hanger, not the shackle.

Damage looks fixable. A few possible causes:

1. Corrosion
2. Welding weakened the surrounding metal.
3. Not enough contact area. Make sure the new hanger wraps around the side of the frame and is gusseted, similar in principle to the top half of the ATO shackle kit.

 

krumble, its absolutely fixable and for relatively cheap but i wouldnt have who did the original welding do the work this time and while your at it I would cut off the other side and fix that too.

Trim the loose material, grind it all clean and plate the shit out of it then weld on a new hanger, very easy and should be 100x stronger.

guys it wasnt the welders fault. it was the frames fault.

Did you weld it? I would say that is in fact the fabricators fault for not gusseting it. Our frames are two ply sheetmetal and you ask an awful lot of a single layer of sheetmetal. I plated the frame right there, and ran a tube from the end of the sliders to the plate for extra insurance. You could also take a hole saw to the top of the frame rail and run a tube through the C channel to give you something else to grab on to. There's a million ways to skin a cat.

 

Is that the engage rear LT?

 

Ya its fixable. Just gusset and plate where it will be welded to the frame. Just need more surface to grab as mentioned before

 

it would have been better if that was 90degree angled steel welded to the frame then bolted on the side and bottom with plates on the inside.
