OME Dakars with D29XL

    I picked up a full load (filled to top of camper shell) of firewood last weekend, looked at my OME Dakars and they were almost straight to the eye. The rear end of my truck sagged quite a bit. I'm looking forward to add the
    $77 D29XL Leaf Spring
    D29XL leafs to help with heavy loads, but have a few questions. Will the center pins that came with the CS047 Dakars be long enough for the project or do I have get longer center pins. Do I need to extend my brake lines? Will the ride stiffness in rear noticeable with the D29XL added to the Dakars?

    I didn't measure, but the Dakars were flat.

    The aal for the pack is more meant for supporting extra constant load. You would probably be better off with a set of Timbrens.

    I like my Dakars. Just need a little more support if I have a heavy load in the back of my bed and have to tow at the same time.

    I gotcha , mine didn't seem to show any significant sag when I had some firewood in the back , maybe you were hauling heavier than me

    They were all hardwoods. That's one of the reason why the load was so heavy. I usually tow my quad when I go pick up my wood.

    I have already added the
    $77 D29XL Leaf Spring
    D29XL leafs in the rear when i added my bed rack, basket, rear bumper, and swing out. I like the way my truck is sitting right now but i am about to do a drawer system, jerry cans on swing out, camper shell, front runner rack, etc. Has anyone ever put 2 of these additional leafs into their pack? Is it even possible to do this?

    Full OME suspension (885 front springs, Dakar leaf pack + OME shocks) + D29XL extra leaf + 3 deg. shim + RideRite airbags
    Not sure if that would be a good idea, I'm no expert but since additional leafs would be the same length, the pack might not flex properly. You could probably try airbags first, they worked great for me with my
    $77 D29XL Leaf Spring
    D29XL pack.

    Anyone have any idea on the cost associated with adding the add a leafs to the dakar packs?

    I had Dakars installed here in SoCal back in June and an thinking of adding the
    $77 D29XL Leaf Spring
    D29XL for my upcoming cross country trip - certainly don't want to brake the bank though. Truck looks great empty but I'il be adding a camper shell, sleeping platform and quite a bit of gear.

    Would you folks recommend the AAL?

    Thanks very much - just emailed the spring shop who installed my dakars to see what they'd charge to order and install. Dakars got installed in June and living in SoCal and not having hauled much at all I can't imagine I still would take anymore than an hour or 2, they're very clean.

    @OZ-T I've read some are also using a rear shim when adding the
    $77 D29XL Leaf Spring
    D29XL's - any personal thoughts on the necessity here? I don't currently have one being used with the OME Dakar packs currently installed.
