Alright ordering a lift.

Ordering a new lift to fit the 285's and this is what I'm going with
My options are (if you scrool to the bottom) a 2" AAL, a 1.5 aal (tsb springs), or 1.5 blocks w/ U bolts. I think I wanna go with the 1.5 AAL for the rear but what is the tsb spring, but what does the tsb mean? I really wanna go with 2" AAL though but im afraid it will lean forward because of the brush guard. Anyone running this lift or knows what there talking about please help. What would you rather go with?

 

TSB springs are toyota technical service bulletin replacement leaf packs that I'm guessing you don't have on your truck (since you are not familiar with them -- the only way you would have TSB spring is if you knew to ask your dealership about them, or if you bought the truck used with the TSB springs). Since you are 2007, your chance to get the TSB replacement springs has already come and gone with your warranty.

Having said that, I would recommend the 2" AAL if you are lifting the front 3", but that's just my opinion. It depends on what kind of fore-aft rake/attitude you like to have on your vehicle. I got a 1.5" AAL for 1.75" front lift and want to add another 1/2" of lift to the rear now that I'm going to increase the front to 2.5". I like the factory rake. Not into the leveled or bro'd out look.

Keep in mind that 2" of lift in the rear may require other mods like extended brake lines, carrier bearing drop, and longer travel shocks.

If you plan on doing any off-roading, plan on buying extended shocks. I just blew my rear 5100(short one) with my 2" AAL

 

Ill probably order 5125's. You think the 2 AAL will be fine with the shocks if I just do city driving for a few days intill I get the money for new ones?

Ya it should be fine. I was told by DSM(DownsouthMotorsports) That the 5125/5150's need an adapter to fit the Tacoma. Both ends have "loops", while our trucks require a bottom "loop" and a top "stud" to mount up. I would recommend calling DSM, and make sure you buy the correct shocks for your lift. They're currently sending me the longer version of the 5100's to try out with my 2" AAL. The extended length will be fine, but idk if the collapsed length will be.

e: That's assuming you're buying from DSM (which I HIGHLY recommend)

 

I got my Eibach coils for 150 from toytec and 5100s from Downsouth Motorsports for 180

Well I gotta order the lift tomorrow tires are being put on next weekend at sams so I gotta have the lift on before that. and if I need longer travel shocks then Imma have to find a set thats somewhat cheap but dependable. Are you running a spacer in the front?

 

No, I'm running 5100's set at 2.5" in the front. Just have Sams mount and balance your wheels/tires, and set them in the garage at home until you figure out what you want to do. Trust me, there's no need to get in a hurry. You'll just end up ordering the wrong thing which will cost you more time and money.
