Good explanation of engines, etc...

Hey guys,

I want to learn more about my truck but am a novice at best. Are there any good places to look for beginner's diagrams or education regarding the inner workings? Any thoughts on where I should start would be most appreciated.

Ya know, back in the '70's ( I know, before electricity & right after the wheel was invented) There were a couple guys that put together the now famous... " The complete Volkwagon repair manual for the complete idiot" (title) & that thing was awesome, it really broke shit down to layman's terms so practically anyone who could read, could make sense out of it & really understand what they were reading, without all the technical jargon (which for those who knew none of it were hopelessly lost by the end of the 1st paragraph) & that manual also made you feel ok about not knowing squat about engines/engine repair, we could benefit from something like this, some of you old timers surely remember this manual...

 

No better way of learning than getting a wrench out and tearing in to things. Start with little jobs. Soon you will be hooked.
