Anyone else have the orange peel accident when painting the badges black? some of mine look awesome but others seem to be bubbling or rippling a bit, quick fix or do i have to sand them down or take the paint off with steel wool? nail polish remover or any other product work to remove the clear coat and the black paint?

    thanks

I did! I just sanded the spots that wrinkled with a fine grit sandpaper then repainted and applied the clear coat again. Looks as if it never happened.
I wouldn't worry about removing all the paint, just the trouble spots.

this is how my badges turned out. i feel like i have a pretty good clear coat on them so the paint should hold up for a while. does anyone think the slight ripples warrent sanding them down and re doing them?

Up to you man but personally I don't think it looks too bad like that. Just looks like a slight textured finish.

As long as the paint holds up and doesn't start to chip I'd say your good.

only reason i was asking is cause no one ever posts macro shots of there badges and how they turned out. you cant notice any imperfections from a far.

I don't have any ripples on mine. Could be from the weather that you sprayed in or the kind of paint

Couldn't you outline the badges in permanent market and then just wipe it off after?

I did no outline with tape, I strictly took them off and Ill just use a tape measure and tape to put them back on. Paint is drying and I will be leaving the tailgate ones off.

Damn, subbed for whenever I get the balls to do this, I'm cautious to mess the paint up or something

The trick for me was switching off between goof off and rubbing alcohol. Also try to let it soak for a few

Yeah man it worked for me. Once you get it pretty much to the point that it's just a shadow, then use a polisher and buff it out
