Look at the Jeep Wrangler...they did just that...replaced the current engine and tranny for a more powerful and efficient unit. I can't imagine Toyota's reason for not being able to do the same.... Anyway, Toyota just get the new one ready for early December delivery!!!

well technically there isn't a damn thing confirmed yet. Its either leaked stuff that may be real or 2nd hand rumor stuff. Until toyota stops being a bunch of ass's to tacoma owners (prius, camry, and rav4 guys know exactly whats coming) we wont really know.

The ordering date is in bold, meaning it's the newest update!? Yet we know nothing of what you would be ordering. Unless they release info this week?

Does anyone know if the delivery schedule for fleet vehicles is the same as dealers? Just wondering how accurate this is for all of us.

Perhaps that rumored date of July 29 for an announcement was right..

This is saying the '12s would be available September 1st, 2011 (right from Toyota):

    http://fleet.toyota.com/availability.asp

Also I sent a email to the fleet manager asking if this information is current (if you notice on the bottom right side of the document it states last updated 6/14/09). I received a response back stating that this is indeed current information and he didn't know why the 6/14/09 date was on the bottom...he would look into it.

    I sure hope it's correct!

I stated what the dealer told me. No shit the dealer was blowing smoke. I made no opinion. I needed a new truck, and bought one.

You missed the point of the post, douchebag.

it will be changed for 2012 - how much? remains to be seen.

NEVER listen to a dealer. it is in the dealers best interest to sell you a car NOW, not sometime in the future. they will tell you anything to get you to buy the car NOW, TODAY.

I had two different salesman at the same dealership tell me two different stories... one that the 2012s would be a redesign the other that it would be staying the same. Car salesman are notorious liars. That is just a fact of life....

It's all just a waste of time and breath to try and predict the changes at this point.

The important people know what the changes are and soon, we will all know.

Regardless of the changes, I love my new Tacoma! :D

We can end the thread on Fink's post as far as I'm concerned. My 2011 DC Sport is bad as all hell. I love my new Tacoma!

once the info and pix come out on the 2.5 gen here's what the typical response from this forum:

1). OMG that thing it's fugly, glad i have my 2nd gen

2). ewww that thing is fugly, why the change?

3). OMG how do i swap those xxxxxx parts? i want them...

4). Canadians: OMG why no heated mirrors?

6 months after release, bandwagon in full swing, 2nd gen all forgotten, and the changes that were considered fugly are actually cool...

true story happens allllll the time with new models... :D
