How did you stumble across a thread from 2008/2009 haha

A lot of those guys including the green yota are on the national TORRA board. They know their shit and are pretty rough on newbies on the boards.

will longer shocks increase suspension travel? In other words, would my rear have a better chance at staying on the ground at flex with longer shocks?

Yes, but only to the extent of which your leafs will droop. I think.

Yes. But there is a limit to how long you want to go. 10" stoke is about as much travel as you can practically get without bottoming out the shock before hitting the bumps. (and thats with 11 leafs so the bumps sit up higher)

Ok. I need new shocks just dont know what to ask for. Might ditch the spacers and get billies if thats an improvement or not?

I'm assuming your talking about the front shocks? The whole IFS thing limits the travel compared to a solid axle so you'll have to go shorter then a 10" stroke.

But it depends on how much you want to spend. billies are better than stock and affordable. One major advantage of getting icon, fox, king ect. is that they're re-buildable. They can also be re-valved if you think they're too firm/soft

I dont want to spend that much but it would be nice! I have the toytec spacers. With me getting new tires next week. MTR:D... I just will either buy the billies or maybe skyjack. But that means I gotta re do the front lift just to put the shocks on...

With the billies, is it easy to assemble and throw on with my stock springs/strut?

I'm no expert on bilstein shocks. Someone else might want to chime in.

I think you can either get new struts and springs, or just the struts. depending on how they are shipped to you, you may need to use a spring compressor to put the springs on the shocks

It's not terribly bad. Sorry bout earlier post I was thinking rear. If what you have works now I would keep it and save for icons, king, fox, ect Like mentioned above. You won't regret it once you get them in.

Its still up in the air. I just like M/Ts. And the MTRs look like a good M/T that would do good off road and be at least close to an a/t in snow. Plus MTRs run bigger than most tires. The 285 70 17 measures at 33" and 1/4 while others in that size are 32 and 3/4. Getting more tire for a cheaper price than others in that size and close to the bigger and a lot more expensive 285 75 17.

A small handful of select mods.
Your front will never get more travel on it unless you reconfigure the entire thing with longer UCA and LCA's and then struts. The only options are long travel or SAS. Also have you removed your front sway bar? That helps with front traction.

In the rear you will need full leaf packs with more droop and also a good way to get more flex is a set of shackles like Lots of Toys. Issue is I only know of one company ATO producing a set up that allows us to reverse our shackles to gain more droop.

I am running the Toytec adj billy's with 885 springs and they have been great. Adj. ride height and good dampening with the sway bar off. Rebuildables are great but cost and here in CO you are more likely to wear out the spring before your shocks need to be rebuilt IMO. Rebuildables get better use with the baja crowd.
