I dont know where you got the notion that I was questioning you, or that I am still in the market.... I did more than my fair share of research, fucked up, and will be replacing what I have now with a Burg kit when I feel its needed, Still, Ive been wheeling my current kit for awhile now and its held up great.

Anyway, I think your missing the entire contest of the conversation, we are discussing 4x4 kits. The only reason the 2wd models came into the debate was when he claimed that the engage "4x4" kit pulls 16" when in reality, no such kit exists yet since there are no axels and to compair equivalent kits I listed the travel specs on a Camburg kit set up the same way which from their website pulls 15".

Debates like these always seem to go south. What ends up happening is a guy that is new to the board or new to offroading still wont have a clue after all the back and forth ends. So in the end what has really been accomplished.

Oh well I guess this is the BS Thread. :D

^ Agreed. All the bolt on kits are pretty close to the same performance wise, pick the one that makes you happy.

caged, camburg long travel, 50t leafpack (soon to be installed) light rack over cab, 5pt harnesses etc

Can i see a link to the camburg site where you see this, cause this is what i see

    http://www.camburg.com/toyota/95-04-tacoma/toyota-tacoma-coilover-long-travel-offroad-system/

This Off-road System will provide 13″ Of travel and widens the trucks front stance 3.5″ per side. Fiberglass fenders are a must. The Boxed lower Arms pivot on massive 1″ uni-balls instead of cheap bushings. The upper arm replaces the ball-joint with a 1″ uniball and uses a heat-treated stainless steel adapter on the spindle. This very kit has been raced on in Baja with great results.
    • Tubular 4130 upper arms
    • Boxed lower arms w/ 1″ uniball inner pivots
    • Stainless steel extended front brake lines
    • Limit straps
    • Stainless steel steering extensions
    • Coilover mounts
    • Hardware

thats where i was getting my numbers, and i havent done tons of research on engage because i am set on going with camburg, but i thought their 2wd kit pulled 16 inches, so i ASSUMED they were trying to get their 4wd kit to pull the same. so my bad about that one. but i still would like to see where your getting your numbers or maybe were both looking in different places, im not sure.

and i like how you come out here asking if i have ever seen a camburg kit in person, and one cycle and saying i doubt it?

    do you know me? no.
    do you stalk me? maybe.
still gives you no right to say what i have seen and havent seen when you have no clue.

EDIT: we are looking at different kits, your looking at 2nd gen, im looking at first gen. Touche'

Easiest way to explain this is to go outside and look at your leaf springs. See your rubber bumpstops sitting on top of the leaf springs? When those hit, you're bottomed out.

Now picture the leaf springs sitting underneath the axle. The springs are longer, so you still have the same ride height/lift. There's more room for the axle to cycle up in this configuration. The rubber bump stop is replaced with a 2-4'' stroke air bump, which is like a small shock that catches the axle and slows it to a stop as you bottom out.

In addition, the longer leaf springs on the LT will droop out more, so as the ass end of the truck leaves the ground, it will have more suspension to come down on.

You have less ground clearance because the springs ride underneath the axle rather than above. Ground clearance is not how high the truck sits off the ground, it's how high your rear axle is.

More travel. You could run springs with this much arch spring over, but it would provide about 10" of lift, so we run them spring under. The more arch in the spring the more travel you get out of it. Also SUA helps prevent axle wrap, and you get far less body roll than running the same spring SOA while keeping the center of gravity low. It's fairly affordable compared to links. The down side is that you lose a little bit of ground clearance directly under the springs but unless you are a hardcore rock crawler you won't notice. 19" of travel, strapped at 18" out of all-pro baja springs.

Yes he has. Mine. Maybe you should get your numbers from real life instead the "internet". Camburgs webcite says my kit pulls 13" but look at the tape measure below. Mine pulls over 13". So numbers on the internet are not always exact. With that said, when you add a 4x4 system to total chaos or camburg on a 1st gen your axles are going to start to bind around 13". So before you argue with him maybe you should realize he is talking about kits for his own truck, which he has seen in person

Anyway bottom line is an inch here or there is not near as important as the setup and tuning. Arguing over what a webcite says a kit cylces is crazy. Get the kit you want and/or do some testing. I am sure you will be happy if you put in your time

Just 12" TC shackles over the frame, nothing fancy. I don't have a good shot of it on 'bucket. To add some fuel to the mine is bigger than yours fire, the 05+ TC kit pulls more than advertized also, and the uniballs bind before the CV joints or steering on the new trucks.

thanks, i've seen the tc shackles before, so don't worry about the picture. a 12 inch shackle will allow you to pull more than tha all pro pack can put out can't it? i gues it really depends on where you have the shackle attatch tot he frame?

yeah cause i base the price i offer of what they are new. he said he didnt include the sliders in the price, and hes like 1m away from my house so i think im going to show up with 320 cash and offer for both seats and sliders, cause money talks. then if he says no i can always go home and get more cash. i dont think he will take it for 320, but when people see green their eyes light up.

i got 2 of my kragens last night! woot

this does have a bladder, no foam though. is this race legal? is this a good deal?

the foam is just so the fuel doesnt slosh around right? so no foam is okay.

It's not that great of a deal, see what they retail for new. You can get replacement foam for any fuel cell. It keep the fuel from sloshing and keeps the tank from puking out it's contents in the event of rupture. The bladder is the important part, it allows for some phenominal impacts without leaking. It should be "race" legal.
