    lol Thanks.

Now I know people can argue 2x2=4 so we *know* that answer is right, so whoever says that is right. And thus whichever religion has the "right" answer is right. My problem is we can prove 2x2=4 with a bunch of rocks. It can be shown, proven, tested, and taught.

Religion can't be proven. So when 500+ varieties out there all shouting they are right while others are wrong.....well.... there is no winner. Not until one can be proven right. In the mean time it's all just children screaming at each other on the playground.

The people that I have been around that are dying because treatment or prayer has not extended their life, I have seen peace, I have seen tears (not of fear), but of joy knowing that they are going to see the LORD.

I am not being a rear end, but because you have not seen a correlation between prayer and results does not matter. A cancer patient going through radiation and chemo are not only torn down because of the cancer but there body (my body) was so tired because of the treatments, that all I wanted to do was sleep. Prayer and belief, during a time like this, not only gave me strength, but also a hope. That hope being healed, and if not, a peace knowing that I was going to be with the LORD.

dont also forget that the churches have withheld/changed information that was put into the bible. didnt some churches (way back in the day) keep their congregation from actually reading the bible for themselves?

I think it's great that you used your faith in god to help you maintain the energy and positive attitude that helps people get through such harsh treatments.

But to say that people may be dying because they don't have god in their life is a little ridiculous.

You and others like you are saved by medical professionals who administer treatments that are known to be effective at curing whatever is ailing you.

If I got cancer, it'd be nice to have peace and maintain hope as you did, but I couldnt get that through god. You know why? Rather than being at peace in knowing that he's gunna save me, or he's got a spot waitin for me upstairs, I'd be too pre-occupied wondering why the fuck he gave me cancer in the first place

many churches today still don't promote reading the Bible. even some denominations.
I know his original name in Hebrew started with a Y, but I can't remember how to spell it without looking it up. But yes, I'm aware of everything you have mentioned. And translating the Bible several times is no big deal if you understand the effort that is put into it. Of course I am not even close to a scholar in this, and anyone is welcome to belittle me and say whatever they want. But I'm comfortable that I did enough studying to prove to myself what I needed, but I'm not qualified to try and teach someone else. I had even tougher issues and questions than you, and that also caused me to dig in and learn and study what I needed to allow me to trust this book. Same thing with creation, I had questions and concerns that led me to dive in and learn for myself.

And there is much involved with translating the Bible, and there is much to study and learn about the history of the Bible. Several years ago I was challenged to learn more, but haven't refreshed myself in that knowledge lately. The internet on a forum isn't the best place to try and teach it, it gets quite technical and detailed and I would recommend if you were really interested, to study it deeper.

Sorry if you feel I side stepped you, just don't have the time to lay it out from the beginning like you deserve to have done for you.

2 final things, #1, I stand strong beside my statement in bold above.....#2, and this>......."what makes you any better"............I don't mean to come off like that at all if that is the way I'm interprited, and I have never said that directly or insinuated that!......where does this come from?!?!?! I'm no better than anyone! All this does is try and play on the emotions of readers.......can we quit saying this because I have never said anything of the like......to......or about......anyone that is discussing this subject with me from another viewpoint, whether agreeing or disagreeing.

I agree, to a point. I don't believe people die or suffer because they don't choose to have God in their life--that is ridiculous. He loves all His children equally, even if they choose not to love Him. But your last line, in a nutshell, demonstrates the difference in attitudes between people who have a religious faith and those with none.

I think the great thing with this discussion is that we can all have our own beliefs, none greater or more superior to the other. You believe what you want, I can believe what I want. In the end, we are all imperfect humans just trying to get through life in our own way.

Freedom to choose our own paths is such a wonderful thing.

EDIT: Before someone questions my meaning in the above comment (first line), let me be perfectly clear: I do believe God allows His children to suffer for a variety of reasons--this includes CHRISTIANS and NON-CHRISTIANS alike.

I agree with you, the LORD gives doctors wisdom and the ability to treat sickness. I am not demeaning doctors of their ability. You were not there when I would meet with the radiation doctor and here him give praise to the LORD for my healing. His response was that he is the instrument that the LORD works through.

I did not say people are dying because they did not know GOD. I was telling this forum what happened with my cancer.
It is amazing that you say you could not get that peace through GOD, but you can put the blame on him for the cancer.
According to cancer society we all have cancer cells in our bodies, when our immune system breaks down to a certain level the cancer cells can become active and start to grow.
My radiation doctor told me at the end of my treatment that he was the instrument that GOD used for all of his cancer patients.
