Time for a new Battery help me out...

What I went with.Made by Johnson Controls,which makes Toyota batteries among several other brands. 3 year free replacement.

 

Think about Costco (Kirkland) batteries? I've had good experiences with them, and they even pro-rated my old Kirkland battery that I returned when I got a new one.

I do live in California and I don't have a system, though. So I'm not sure if that helps you at all. HAHA

 

Odyssey. They're expensive but it will probably be the last battery you ever buy.

 

Not sure on all of the other brands out there but Optima uses gel filled glass (or something like that) which holds up to heat and vibrations very well. I have heard stories of the Army using them in the Humvees, and the external case has melted off the battery and it was still cranking the truck! Thats why I use them, they seem to have a great rep, and they also have a 3 year warranty. I went with the yellow top so when I leave the truck on camping I dont get a dead battery. Someone here may know alot more about Optimas internals, if so I would love to hear more.

 

Exide Has made the majority of Toyota Batteries for the last 8 or so years.

 

The stock one in my 07 was made by Johnson Controls.

 

I would recommend the Interstate battery. I have them in all my cars and trucks and they have never let me down.

Funny thing about the stock battery was that it showed no signs of weakness. One morning, she was dead. No lights left on or cold weather, just gone. I even have a scangauge II and noticed no drop in voltage until it went.

same battery, made for sears, better warranty with sears, cheaper, more locations if troubles.

I am about to bite the battery bullet and was thinking about an optima yellow top just for camping/tailgating. Unfortunately I am about to move to Michigan and am a little worried about the freezing issue discussed in this thread. Does anyone have any documentation on this issue? How cold are we talking to freeze it? Any help would be appreciated.

I had an Optima Red top battery in my 2005 Hyundai Accent. It had 725 CC. I tested it out in -38 windchill, leaving my car not plugged in or started all day. It started my car after 3 turns. It was around $250 CDN, I thought that it was worth it.

 

my red top never let me down right close to -50 not plugged in. orbital extremes are pretty much the same as the optimas but cheaper

 

I had a yellow top a few years ago in my Ford ranger. They have changed the manufacturing to China and ever since then they have been junk, not worth the money. The one I would recommend is the deka intimidator. It is a glass mat battery/gel that can be mounted on any side. and to boot, they are made in the usa!

As stated in the post above mine they went to crap now and are not worth it.

Look on the net and read up on them they are like most other items being sold now, a bunch of hype and advertising but not backing it up.

Been down this road my self on my race car and had nothing but troubles but needed it since it was in the car.

 

My 2014 has two different group sizes. I thinks it's 27f and 34r. The 34 being the bigger of the two. I went with the 34 in the AC Delco professional grade. $130 ish. Zero problems.

haha Yeah I actually like older threads like this, back when people gave advice. Also would be cool to hear what battery he ended up with and if its still going strong.
