Hey guys, looking for a tool to help me at work.

I have two text files and I want to compare them to check for differences.

I currently use Notepad++ with the Compare plugin, which allows me to see the differences side by side with highlighting and all that cool stuff, but I can't save the result in a merged document.

Do you guys know of anything that would do this?

i'm afraid word would mangle the file and start formatting.

Import into excel, fix all formatting issues, the cut/paste into a new excel sheet. Do both files this way then you can compare head-to-head.

the Database function in OpenOffice may also be able to do this, although I've never imported text files to it.

Here at work, we use Con Text

This is more for programming. Maybe that's what you're looking for.

    And: It's freeware.

Not sure how either of these help with text files? At the time I wrote this post, I was interested in comparing two different drafts of an end-user license agreement.

Pretty similar to Notepad++, but neither will save the comparison results.
