Don't get your panties in a bunch. All I said was I knew you'd chime in, being that this is an AP skid thread. Don't read too much into it jeeeeeez

Whats the cost savings between the AP's and others?

Are the AP skids better than stock?

Are they worth the $$$ compared to the others, if a simple stock "upgrade" is desired (but where skids that are resistent to .50 cal rounds are not needed?!) LOL

also a good percentage of people who make bad reviews of a product as oppose to good reviews

AP skids are definitely better than stock. Is it worth the $ compared to others is subjective. FWIW I got my AP IFS skid for ~$100 brand new from a local guy :D

    I'm too lazy.

On your "negative review" note, I have yet to see anyone post a negative story regarding ATO products. Just sayin', while we're on the subject of skids...

Bias is impossible to eliminate. I'm one of the "benders", but I am confident that the conditions it took to bend these things the way I did would've resulted in more than that bend if it was someone else's stuff bolted under there.

I think that's the biggest factor...people who show up on Kevin's doorstep are not fucking around.

Had the AP Ifs skid, held up decently for when I had it, only scrapes and a little dent on it!

Switched out for bud-builts, got a good deal from a guy on here.

Both are good, depends on your use and style of offroading

All Pro skids seem to be a hot button issue on this site.

Here's my $.02, having owned them for a couple of years:

They stand up to what 99% of drivers will throw at them. I've scraped mine over rocks, logs, and concrete and it's held up perfectly. I've bounced off rocks on a a few occasions as well. Very loud noise and abrupt stop, but no damage.

I know some of these guys bounce off rocks left and right and are able to bend the skid plate up. That's extreme abuse and they need the heavier bud built skids for that.

AP's customer service on my skid was A+. I picked up the bumper and sliders in person and we (collectively, me and AP employees) overlooked the skid plate that was part of the order. I was a couple days out from a big offroading trip so they next day shipped that skid plate to me. That's good customer service.

If you're like me and like to go fast offroad as well, weight is definitely an issue. If you're like Larry and like to bang on rocks like a hurricane on a screen door, then you probably want the thickest and heaviest steel you can get.

I fabbed my own IFS skid based off of a diagram drawn by a TN member who based his off the Allpro skid. Mine is 3/16 plate, the all pro skid is just slightly under. I've had it now for a couple years and it's done damn well. I've smacked it quite a few times, I definitely wheel my shit but I don't really play in the rocks too much. There is an in-between. Couldn't say about the rest of the skids as I don't have all-pros. I don't have any tranny or t-case skid, been meaning to fab some up but haven't gotten around to it yet. That should give you a decent idea of the wheeling I do.

The stock skid folds like a pancake and the All-pro skid is definitely miles above.

I've heard good things about BB's skids, but not about his CS. I've heard nothing but good about ATO.

That's just my .02 as a non-fanboy of any brand here.

Well my definition of moderate off-roading is still in the works, honestly. The only place I've been to is Shoe Creek and I know it's really just a bumpy road in the grand scheme of things. My intent is to get my truck ready to take to Rousch Creek and eventually URE and at least be able to tackle the intermediate trails without fear of completely f'ing up a critical part under my truck. It's not going to be a hardcore off-road vehicle for a few years, as I just bought it a few months ago and it is my daily driver and flagship vehicle, so to speak, and I'd like to keep it nice. But I also want to be able to take it off-roading and have some fun with it without worrying about really fucking it up.

I have the metal miller skid, and it has held up great. I smacked a rock last time out that stopped me dead- but the skid held strong.

Only problem I see is that he only makes an IFS skid, so when I upgrade to a full set, I will have to take my money elsewhere.

I contacted BB,AP, and ATO and for those wondering the all pro skid weighs 54 lbs. The bud built only weighs 39 lbs. Still waiting to hear back from ato.
