When I first got my Tacoma, I decided not to fix it up since I thought it would be a waste of money to do so if everything on her was perfectly fine.

Well..... I was driving home last month and ran into a giant pothole. I busted both passenger side tires and rims, bent the back bumper, and damaged the factory fender flares.

It killed me to see her like this and my wife knew how much I loved my truck. While she was in the "thank goodness you're ok" mind set and happy that I wasn't hurt, I decided to act sad and sneak in a few suggestions for upgrade replacement parts. Muahahaha :D

    She said yes!

There is a name for that pothole. It's called the Grand Canyon.

So she agreed to let me order a few things and I went straight to it before she snapped out of it and realized what had just done.

Here's what I got away with:
    17 inch rims and tires
    Replacement fender flares
New headlights because mine were faded
New tail lights to match my new headlights
    Bull bar

The last of everything came in today and now the fun begins!

I'll post photos tomorrow after I get them uploaded and if I'm not stuck in the garage all night installing stuff. Here's a side view of my rims.

lol. ok well more like a ditch. I was dodging a dog in the road and swerved into a field with several crazy bumps along the way. My first time off road as well. Scared the poo out of me. Bit my tongue while bouncing around. haha

busted truck + swollen tongue causing me to slur + sob story + loving wife = after market goodies

    Thanks drewski!

That's the highest 32-bit integer the database column will hold; IE, he's higher than that...

I'm digging the look, throw us up some more photos.

haha. I noticed that too. Not sure why it did has that. I wish it was my bank account balance. lol

Hey NFK your taco is pretty much the look im going for. Just black on silver.

I finally got my headlights on. It wasn't very hard at all. The only screw giving me a little trouble was the one behind the bumper. I just removed the two clips that held the wheel well liner in place, pushed it out of the way, and reached in with a wrench. Got it out pretty quick. I'm thinking about going retro with the factory headlights or just blacking them out. going to keep them for back up.

Here's one side done so you can see factory vs aftermarket

Now for my tail lights. I thought about getting the new Tacoma factory tail lights or something similar but really wanted something simple and different.

Here are the tail lights before
    [IMG]

After. Kind of like the Tundra tail lights but smoked out with LED's

Just put on the bull bar. I got the Aries bull bar. Surprisingly it only took me about 15 - 20 minutes. The instructions sucked so I youtube'd how to install a bull bar.

Now Im waiting for my fender flares. I'll post the pics after I get them installed. Thinking about new nerf bars too. Just have to figure out how to get the approval from the Mrs.

Might just use the usual, "well I got you a house and threw in a beautiful baby girl..."

I saw a lot of other cool things that everyone has done to their trucks too. I plan on doing some of it to mine as well. Gives me a reason to hang out in my man cave.

I'm no investigator, but hitting a pothole and swerving into a field are not even close to similar.

Agreed, I was wanting to see a pot-hole or at least a slab of highway that had been removed...something.

To the OP, the mods are coming along nicely and looking good so far. What kind of wheels are those if I may ask?
