Break in new truck 1st or....

    Picked up my new tacoma dclb and looking to put a 6in fabtech lift with 35 tires. Do I need to break in my truck first before installing these components? I'm going to place the order soon bc it's a great deal but I don't know how long I can stare at lift, wheels and tires. Lol. Thanks!!

    Honestly I would break in the engine a bit before immediately putting on heavier rubber..

    Then why does the manual and Toyota recommend 500km of easy travel (no revving hard/braking hard) 1000km without towing...etc.

    You're probably right when it comes right down to it, I'm just providing an arguement.

    The break in period is not for the engine. It's for the differentials.
    If you get the gears too hot too early, well they become shit.

    ^This...which is typically before you ever drive the vehicle off the lot.

    R&P can be damaged very easily before break in. If the oil gets too hot or you overload them, they can break. If you do a regear, most diff shops will tell you 500 miles before towing. Really, it's the first 100 miles that count.

    I think he was talking about OP being concerned about breaking in on suspension not engine...

    misunderstood... in that case, go for it! suspension should be fine for sure.
