    An earlier post here said the new 2012 Tacoma was supposed to be on display in Las Vegas tomorrow, July 29th.

    Still happening? I wonder where and if photos can be had.

    well, the wall street journal seems to be the source and the link you responded to is quoting the WSJ, but the new engines quote doesnt appear to be apart of the WSJ info.

    pretty sure one of the "new" engines down the road will be the Dual VVT-i 4.0L, its new to the tacoma. others new engines? Maybe the 4.6L V8, but more likely Id bet on a revised 4 banger. Id love a higher out put 4 cylinder 4x4, like say 190hp, dual vvti,

    Alright, more info pointintg in the direction of no engine change...Who's gonna start the "2013 Taco changes" thread? I'm not to worried about it, I would like the latest engine like most everybody, but at least the 4.0 they have now is still a good engine. I'm looking forward to seeing the new truck in pics and in person.

    Since the WSJ article commented on the compact truck segment potentially having a resurgence if gas prices continue to stay high (or go higher!) I would suspect that a new I4 would be in the works (fuel economy reasons). That said, if they are going to start building engines in Mexico I think I would prefer the Old Faithful Japanese built engines (be they I4s or V6s)... at least for the first 2-3 years that the Mexican factory is up & running. Combining a new factory in a whole nuther country with new(er) engine designs has all the warning signs of potential quality problems. This is not a cut on Mexican workers, I would feel the same way if the new engine factory was going to be in the US or Australia or wherever. There is just always kinks to be worked out. Japanese built engines have earned their bulletproof reps.
