upgrade tire size?

Tried to search a little, the little mr. is cranky though and has to go to bed so just looking for opinions. Have a 2008 running p26570r16 stock bfg rugged trails that are the original. Purchasing some Hankook Dynapro ATM RF10. Just planned on going with the same size, but the tire guys really were pushing the p26575r16 size. Said it's more common tire size, looks better, no problems rubbing, etc.

It's a few dollars less for the 75 size each tire which is not important. I was concerned about the spare and being stuck with a flat out in the middle of Lake Powell nowhere and trying to drag a boat 100 miles with one shoe being a 70 and the rest being a 75. Tire guy said he could give me a 'used' one to swap out the, basically unused, spare for a 75 size.

The speedometer test they showed me was the 75 size goes a little faster than what's on the dial.

Still leaning towards sticking with the stock size of 70s. I fine with the 'look' as is. Just need some better tread at this point. Thoughts on the 70 vs 75 size? Thanks.

I went up to the 265/75-16 when I got my Hankook's last February.

The tires fit perfect and no off road or on road rubbing.

The speedometer now reads correct, our Rugged Trails (265/70-16) make the speedometer read too fast (per my GPS and dozens of other TW members).

How often do you get flats, really? The spare (new BFG) is only 1" smaller than a new Hankook... and if the Hankook ever gets a flat, it may be after a lot of its rubber is gone, so not that much difference. Have you seen the fake spare tires some cars come with... ? I don't think you will have any issue using the new BFG as a spare... even in 4WD.

Get the bigger size , it does look better , no rubbing issues .

I ran 265/70/17 Hankook MT's on stock suspension for about 2 years before I lifted

 

This, and with open differentials it wouldn't cause any issues for a short distance or until you can get the tire repaired.
