4X4 is for people who want things easy. Prerunner is for those who appreciate the value of effort.

Hey dog, come on up, it is my honor to cordially invite you and anyone else in your pre-runners ( just for the record: I dig pre-runners ) to play in my neck of the woods come winter. When your rig is in the ditch or stuck in the snowdrifts I won't say a thing, well maybe just a little. The great thing about winter is that you can just store the beer in the bed, i.e refrigerator. It's gets so cold up here you have to be half in the bag to cope. In all seriousness it is all about needs, I needs to go to work on time, I needs a 4wd-period.:drunk:

^Yup, all about need. If I still lived up there, I'd have one.

BTW, I'm originally from NJ so I know ALL about winter. Worse thing in NJ is the ice, more so than the snow. As I'm sure you have, I've seen plenty of 4X4's cruise on by only to end up in a ditch because they're too bold. I used to have a good laugh over that. Now I laugh when I see all the Harley's broken down on the side of the road during Bike Week but that's another story.

Rochester N.Y. it's not too bad but sometimes winter rears it's ugly head and let's us have in spades. A few years ago we got between 6-8 ft on Christmas eve, and last year we had 9 days straight in the single digits with wind chill in the negatives, life becomes more than just difficult, it really sucks !!

Yeah your are right it get cold as hell out in the midwest, I was stationed in Missouri for a while, when you get it, you get it like crazy cold, like I have heard that once and a while they tell people to lower tire pressure so they don't freeze and break the bead, madness.

the reason I bought my pre runner is two fold. First Teenage kids! They would have taken my truck with their friends to who knows where and 4byed it into the ground. Second the insurace cost. I have two teenagers and with their cars and my wifes and a 4x4 the cost was way out of control!!!

Never thought of that angle, great perspective. I don't have kids, but even if I did they would not be taking my truck to the mudhole, or should I say not permitted, what happens between this and that is to be seen. :D

Ok I HIGHLY disagree with you. I go hunting a lot and the mud I sometimes have to go through.....Just on a dirt road after it rains. I've come EXTREMELY close to getting stuck with the 4x4 and believe me I know how to drive off road. If you don't ever have a reason to go off road then no you don't need it, but for people that actually do go off road a 2wd pre runner does not even compare its apples to oranges.

When would you like to go out and get a sense of humor? I'd be more than happy to take you. If it wasn't obvious to you that I was joking, then it should be now.
