Your fine dude. nothing wrong with a spacer lift on that truck. I had one on my f-250 and never had a problem. If you decide you want to start going off road a lot then its time to change it out. leave it as it is, your truck looks good.

On my Silverado I have the leveling kit type spaces and I have never had any problems. Drove the truck for 80k miles and to this day I'm still confident in my trucks suspension.

No more slipping and sliding around for me on the trails. I just picked up a set of Super Swamper TSLs for $400. They were mounted and used on the road for less than a month. Now I can't wait to get back out to Bridgeport and Tolar.

Thanks. :D Now I get to take the hammer and cut off wheel to the 4Runner so I can make room for them. Really can't wait to get to Bridgeport and take on that trail that I almost rolled back on last time.

A friend of mine picked up 3 - 36x16.5 Super Swampers today that he is going to resale. Do you need any for your dad's rig?

    Just to add some comments:

Spacer lifts work great, if done properly. I had a 3" spacer lift on my Tacoma for about 9 months, and no problems. I did offroad, as hard as I could in it, and never worried about it breaking.

Great tires, those should do much better! Let me know next time y'all make a trip out and I'll tag along.

Spacer lifts are the most damaging type of lift.....any arguments to that statement?

Not to say they will destroy the truck, but of all the lift types, they are the most likely to cause damage.

Thanks and I'm trying to get together a group for the later half of Sept. It looks like it will be dependent on some people getting their trucks down... and everyone else being available.

I meant BL damaging by the possibility of punching through the body mounts

Can you explain why? From my understanding, at least with some solid axle American trucks, spacers are the way to go.

The difference is the type of independent suspension on tacomas. Besides the extra load put on the shock, you run the risk of bottoming out or hyperextending the shocks, plus extra strain on and maxing out the ball joints. Is this correct?

With quality BLs the spacer is large enough so as to disperss the weight and force over a larger area. The cheaper lifts are very small and will act as a force trying to come through the metal. Also BLs should be used within reason; 2-3" is ok enough. When trying to go to 6-8"s it is just asking for all kinds of trouble.
