why clamp that light onto the barrel? Ive always heard/been told that anything clamped on the barrel reduces accuracy.

I would guess that someone seaking accuracy would pick a 50cal. the 50 cal would be better for another purpose.

Unfortunately you can't just throw an ar-10 upper on to an ar-15 lower. 308 is much to long to fit through that magwel.

    gotcha.

Ive been reading about the .300 something or other for the AR with subsonic rounds. It sounded pretty bad ass with a supressor added to it.

    practical? no
    Cool? yes! haha

    300 AAC or 300 Blackout?

I considered this...but decided that its not for me

Its a cool round...but expensive...and doubtful it will reach the price point of 5.56/.223

.300 whisper is a new AR round that is supposed to be excellent.I personally use 6.8 for hunting and 5.56 for plinking and zombies...:).If considering an AK check out the 5.45 platform, ammo is much cheaper than 7.62x39.

No question. The AK has all the reliability in the world ( I have not drug any of my arsenal in the mud ). But the AR is a precise piece of marksmanship that is Extremely versatile! ( add ons, uppers and lowers. Etc). Buy the sexiest one you see today and buy the other one next year!!

The ar15 can be just as reliable as the ak. most prefer the AK due to the ease of use. i vote ak for price and ease of use. ar15's are beautiful guns but the ar is more of my safe queen, ak is the beater gun lol

How is the ar a safe queen compared to the ak? both have a selector switch. Thats it. No more no less.

Thats a myth. Properly used the ar is bomb proof. After 5 years in the infantry I never had a single malfunction. One thing to do that most neglect is to coat it in lube. Whatever it doesnt need will drip off.

    New truck....so nothing yet
First off my 50 uses a standard lower and lpk. Even uses standard mags (although you lose capacity 30 rd 5.56 gets 10 50 cal). It is dead accurate out to 300 yards then the round breaks subsonic. Reloaders get better results with custom rounds. Get on you tube and look up (50 Beowulf) and watch the Future Weapons episode.

What's this about changing a AR to a piston instead of gas system? Details?

One of the new gas piston uppers ( by LWRC for example) are even more unstoppable than the m4 already was. As I said before, really nothing wrong with the blow back design if you know how to maintain it. With piston rifles everything runs cooler, makes the parts last longer between service, prevents carbon build up, ect..

unless you are taking carbine courses, in combat, or shooting full auto I see no point in the average joe needing a piston AR.

EDIT: I believe they are suppose to be good when running a suppressor as well.

Even in combat my blow back m4 worked flawlessly in large firefights.
