installing light racing uca's

I finally got my ucas and just waiting for the bolts from toyota, suppose to be here days ago but my dealer sucks big ones. Ill start after I get off work. I hope it goes smoothly.

 

Decided to cheat and cut the heads off the long bolts?

 

Yeah I feel like it might be less of a headach. Im more worried about getting the compression bolt out of the spindle

 

I did my passenger side in 40 minutes, driver side in 20. I put a few notes in the LR group buy thread. For the spindle bolt, loosen the castle nut to be flush with the bottom of the bolt, spray some wd40 or similiar up through the bolt hole toward the ball joint and then tap on the castle nut from the side in different directions and it should pop loose pretty easily. We also used my floor jack to take some of the pressure off when pulling the spindle loose. No prying necessary. If you leave your sway bar connected, it will keep your spindle upright and you don't have to worry about your break line or traction sensors.

 

Are new bolts necessary to install the UCA's?

 

They aren't, but some people have trouble maneuvering the old ones out, so they cut them.

 

So I don't need to disconnect swaybar? The thread I was reading said to, 1 less thing to unbolt would be nice. No u don't need new bolts, only if u cut the head off the old one so it is easier to take out

 

If you are replacing just the UCA, the swaybar and tie rods can stay. If replacing shocks, swaybar and tie rods have to go. The best thing to do with the spindle if you are doing shocks is to ziptie it to the UCA so it can't drop away, use two zipties because that spindle is heavy.

I just finished and this helped so much especially jacking it up some. Just need the alignment tomorrow

 

Glad it helped. I got mine aligned, but I'm going to need to have someone else do it. The place I went didn't adjust at the ball joint and my camber is a little to much. I have the lifetime alignment with firestone, just have to find one with a good tech.

 

It took 3.5 hours to align my truck. It kept drifting right and he was having a hell of a time getting rid of it while keeping it in alignment
