Yeah, sorry to hear about that. Maybe your grandparents feel sorry for them?

I'm still trying to figure out all of my grandparents decisions and opinions, so good luck.

Sure, you have a right to be pissed--absolutely. I'm assuming your grandma knows all about your cousin's issues. That being said, you are better off on your own despite the personal inconvenience and extra $$$ it may cost you. I think you will look back on it as the right decision. Mixing business (e.g., renting a place from family) with family is never wise and usually ends up a disaster (ask me how I know at 40 yrs of age).

Sometimes family members can't see they are just contributing or enabling bad behaviors. It's hard to step away and be objective when you love someone unconditionally. Your grandma probably thinks she is doing the best thing. Don't take it too personally. She probably knows you have your shit together and has every confidence in you, where your cousins, not so much. Her lack of charity to you should not be taken as a sign of favoritism.

Chart your own course and let your family chart theirs. NOTE: Every family has that one person (maybe two) that always seems to suck the life out of the family. Constantly in need, constantly getting into trouble, constantly draining everyone around them of money, time, and patience. Best thing for you to do is to separate yourself from the situation altogether and get on with life. You'll make it just fine without anyone's assistance or charity. Good luck.

the funny thing is I was over there a while back talking to them after my cousin got busted, and my grandma said she could understand why he does it cause it's good money...Im like uhh its illegal....

Funny thing is, my whole family was cool with him doing it for the past 3 years, money was good, life was easy, then he got caught and everyone backed off and was like wow wow wow thats bad you shouldnt do that.

the renting from them i'm not too worried about, basically in a bout 20 years or so this duplex will be handed down to me. I'm also looking at this as one of my future investments being screwed up by him possibly doing indoor growing and causing mold, unsafe wiring, thefts, etc. ...JUST SUCKS!!!
