    Shouldn't be.

You had a tow package and bumper
you sold the bumper and tow package.

    Then

you bought a bumper that came from a truck with tow package?

Shouldn't it be the same bumper?

Bumper is the same as far as I know, but the bracket is different. Or I should say, there are brackets on the non-tow-package truck that are replaced by the tow bar setup on the tow package truck.

First off you cant sell a tow package. It's a package!
V6 Tow Package: Class 4 Hitch, Supplemental Oil Coolers, 130A Alternator, Heavy-Duty Battery, 7-Pin Connector with Converter
If you sold your rear bumper but kept the bumper mounts they will not work on a bumper without a Class 4 Hitch. You need to get regular bumper mounts.

only difference is the mounting bracket.

Found out today there are 4 different part numbers for back bumpers:
    5215-104-061
    5215-104-906
    5215-104-903
    5215-104-060

oh wait one of those is a 907 - two of them fit the SR-5's (4x4 w/tow package) (one painted - one Chrome)

the other two fits those street style taco trucks

    This ^^^

Same bumper, but there are 2 brackets that hold the bumper on trucks without the factory hitch. The hitch is the mounting when the truck is optioned with one.

    Relent -

Yeh, that must have been it - the difference was with or with out a tow package - and either painted or chrome

I'm going to "try" and replace mine this weekend.

I say try - because last night I looked up in there and all of a sudden it looked like a chore!

Whipper - thanks - I have or had the painted one - dented the crap out of mine and found it to be slightly cheaper to go back with a chrome

sooo, gonna try to R & R tomorrow

Any hints or suggestions on making it a smoother operation?

    Thanks

By the way your Banks exhaust sounds good!

Last I heard they (nor did anyone else) didn't make an exhaust kit for the model I have - 4x4 - crew cab - long wheel base.

That's what I was gonna try - I'm sorta waitin to put a lift, wheels & new tires on it and see about doing the exhaust at the same time - figured while it was on the lift - why not!
