thats exactly what i have been thinking....I can understand being DEP for 4-5 months but waiting on meps for 4-5 months is crazy...i know its harder to get in the air force and all but WOW. i have accualy considered walking past my recruiters office and waving as i go into the army or marine office and pic up some brochures and walk by his offfice on the way out and wave bye.

Congrats man! Like others have said make sure you lock in your AFSC. Would recommend against Security Forces they get Fu**ed more than anyone else. I'm an Electrical/Enviromental acft mech been in 7yrs. Cant say maintenance is all shitty depends greatly base to base. First 6 @ Ellsworth with the B1B was busy as hell but since i PCS'd to Fairchild the 135 is boring as hell. So yeah good luck!

Found out my job yesterday, I'm gonna be a Unmanned Aerospace System Sensor Operator! Turns out it's a really good job, and is very recent creation in the military. I also found out that leaver for basic on July 10th.

The job you were selected for is on the very cutting edge. I hope you really appreciate this opportunity--it will serve you well in and out of the service. This field is right up there with Cyber Warfare specialties when it comes to the future of our ever-changing Air Force. I'm sure you are going to love this job!

Just do yourself a favor, when you come to Holloman for some of your training, make the most of it. As long as you dont sit in your dorm/apartment and bitch about how there isnt anything to do here, you will enjoy it.

Sensor operators that work hard also get a lot of awards because you work so closely with the pilots. :)

I know it's not what you want but there is nothing wrong with the Army or the Marines. Talk to them and see what they have to offer.

accually army was my first choice untill i scored a 73 on my asvab so i decided to look at my other options for schooling reasons and the AF fit the bill pretty good im still more than willing to fall back on army or marines if i need to and would be damn proud to serve with them

Sensor Ops will have lots of opportunity on the outside in the contract world. Our SO's make about 21K a month overseas.
