I just want to say that this is wrong. If you run your welder on 240 it will draw less current than if it were on a 120v circuit. The resistance of the welder does not change.

JLee. Your welder comes with a 50A plug, but you can hook it up to a 30A circuit. Your welder probably doesn't even draw 30A at full load but you could probably even use a 20A circuit if you wanted. The code allows you to de-rate a welding outlet circuit based on the welders duty cycle.

heres my welding cart i made today! i made it too wide by 4 inches...you can probably figure that one out, so tomorrow im probably going to go in with the cutting wheel and shorten it down 4in so it makes it more narrow. i made a handle since these pics were taken.

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
Yeah it only draws 24A at full power I had a open 40A in the box so I just ran some 6g out for the welder. It's probably not up to code being near the hot water heater.

I got the box from a local guy moving to the east coast, its full of recovery strap, chain, first aid, gas can, blanket, simple tools and some other stuff. I didnt want it to fly around if i ever get around to taking this thing off road so i built a cage to hold it, gonna put seats on the sides of the box i think, and maybe storage under them.

This may have been answered already but I am about to buy a lincoln 125 welder. It requires a 120v circuit. Do I need to run a dedicated line just for a 120v circuit or would I be ok plugging in to just a standard outlet?

Depends what the circuit you want to use is connected to. Ideally, it's dedicated or at least you're able to turn whatever else is on it off before you start welding.

Ok thank you that helps. I am thinking it might be better to just run a dedicated line to make it easier and not have to turn a bunch of stuff off. The people who built the house must have brought the cheapest electricians in when they did the lines. if a fuse blows because of something in the garage, the bathroom upstairs is connected on that circuit so that goes out as well.
