Hey guys Im thinking that a used tacoma might be in my near future, curious as to what you guys would look for as far as motor and year range.

I will be downsizing from a superduty, I love diesels but the thing is getting expensive to drive and just doesnt handle cold as well as i would like.

I would prefer either extended cab or 4 door, needs to be automatic and have 4x4, and would like it to be nearly stock to start. It will be a daily driver as well as a weekend warrior. Eventually I will add a small lift, tires, maybe lockers depending on how things play out.

If you could start over, and had my plans, what truck would you buy?

Thanks guys, always been a tacoma fan!

There is the TRD Sport and the TRD Offroad.

If you lift it, depending on the quality of the lift (I.E, anything but a body or spacer lift that does not include replacement shocks/coilovers) you will be replacing the Bilstein shocks that come with the TRD Offroad. However, the TRD Offroad is named as such because of it's rear locker, not just because it has different shocks than the non-TRD model.

If you plan on off roading then the TRD Off Road package is worth it for the rear diff locker alone.
