ok. so my wife tells me the she wants to go somewhere this summer because we havent gone anywhere in the past 2 years for vacation. neither one of us has a clue where to go. I love the mountains and she loves the beach. what are some of the places that everyone on here goes for some ideas??

California has a lot of nice places:

San Diego. Mountains, beach & desert and Mexico within an hour or two of each other.

    SoCal: Death Valley, Malibu

    Central California:
    Yosemite
Kings Canyon & Sequoia National Forest
Wine country (Paso Robles, San Luis Obispo, Napa Valley)

    Northern California:
Lassen Volcanic National Park (it'd be closed this time of year. I think it usually opens around late June-September)
    Mount Shasta
    Eureka (Redwoods)

We're going to Cancun (The Royal resort). We were supposed to go last year but Disney World won that fight.

We just spent the weekend in Dauphin Island, AL, nice quiet beach town, good fishing, very reasonable rates.
