That's what I'm thinking, I'll only be using it when going wheeling. So with the magnetic mount and handheld unit I can store it at home and just hook it all up when I need to.

Yea the roof mount isn't for everyone, but I felt it made the most sense for me. I've seen how often Scotts falls off, and I saw Chad (pd3) with this antenna and thought it sounded perfect. I didnt want anything mounted in the bed, bumpers, or hood or anything like that. I think having roof racks helps with the branches a bit, but I've been really surprised at some of the branches ive hit with it and no problems so far. Scott and Boyd have both been behind me on the trail so they would know better than me how much it actually bends

Just tint and ppl for now.
I'm in the same boat. Looking to do the bed mount. I know there may be some reception issues with it mounted there while the roof is the ideal spot.

i dont think a bed mount will cause too much interference or give signal issues. esp not on a trail where everyone is at most 50 yards from eachother. maybe 100 tops. now, if you are looking for along distance signal, then yeah, maybe the bed isn't the best spot

I like ghetto booty... err wait.

Still that's what I think I want to do, lighter plug, handheld sitting in the cupholder or hang it somewhere, stick the antenna on and run the cable through a window or door.

    lookout in stokes

TRENTON, N.J. -- A black bear was on the loose in New Jersey Wednesday after it attacked and injured two boys as they were camping.
An 11-year-old Brooklyn boy and a 12-year-old child from Jersey City, N.J., were sleeping at a campsite with a youth camping group in Stokes State Forest in northern New Jersey when the young bear entered their campground soon after 5:00am local time, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection said.
The animal entered the boys' tents, scratching one child on the shoulder and leaving another with a puncture wound on his foot. Both boys were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

A state wildlife technician who responded to the attack shot the bear near the campsite, wounding the animal in the neck. The bear then fled into the woods and was being tracked by conservation officers and a blood-sniffing dog, the agency said. Officials were also setting snares and traps in the area in an effort to apprehend the animal.
Sections of the Appalachian Trail and intersecting hiking trails running through Stokes State Forest were closed as authorities searched for the bear.
It was the first reported instance of a black bear attack against humans in New Jersey this year, the Department of Environmental Protection said.
