    2010 non-TRD SR5 4x4 access cab V6 6speed manual.

Dealer didn't have any TRD ORs, which is what I would have bought, but gave me a really good deal on this truck.

I don't do any seroius off roading anyway. I bought the truck mainly to haul stuff with and needed the 4x4 for bad weather and mild off roading.

I've gone through deep snow, ice, dirt and mud and it's worked great so far, so i'm glad I saved the money. I may install a Detroit locker in the rear someday but i'm in no real rush.

Getting ready to swap over from a Jeep...I don't think I will like it when a computer tells me I can't engage or turn something off. I keep asking is a OR really for me?

Ok, since it is getting near a year since I posted this poll. Here are my own comments about choosing the non-TRD trim:

    - Don't do it. Now that I have lived with the truck, I want the hood scoop. I want the smoked headlights and the bed power plug. I want the different interior fabric and I wish I had the more aggressive tires and the alloys instead of steels. I probably only saved $1000 or so vs a TRD all said and done. If I want all of that stuff now, it's not worth it. I will just trade my truck in rather than trying to buy all of those replacement parts.

    - Regarding the 6spd manual. Yeah, I'm dedicated to manuals, but I can't help wondering if the long bed would have been better and with the 6spd's crappy drivability...maybe the auto wouldn't be so bad.

If you read my posts, or others who have traction controls and use them, you will discover that YOU HAVE MANY CHOICES, include to turn them OFF and remain in open differential mode.

The 4WD OFF ROAD has 9 CHOICES of how you want the system to provide traction or none at all. To keep it extra easy, the STANDARD (no button) setting in 2WD and 4WD-HIGH is the best for most if not all your needs. Only in 4WD-LOW would I suggest pressing the A-TRAC button just once, so you have max. traction every time you are in L4 from then on... Press it again if you think spinning the tires instead of moving (open diff.) is better... The choice is YOURS... NOT the COMPUTER! ;)

    1) 2WD lite traction control ('TRAC')
    2) 2WD strong traction control ('AUTO LSD')
    3) 2WD no traction control ('VSC OFF')
    4) 4WD-HI strong traction control ('TRAC')
    5) 4WD-HI no traction control ('VSC OFF')
    6) 4WD-LO no traction control
    7) 4WD-LO rear locking diff.
    8) 4WD-LO A-TRAC (front and rear super traction control)
    9) 4WD-LO rear locker (& A-TRAC if speed drops below 4 mph)

I'll be sure to print this & tape it to the visor, thanks for the break down. Now I got to get the stealership to do a 200 mile dealer trade to get a OR package.

This one made by BGrutter is much better and more helpful as to the 9 modes:

TRD OR Double Cab with Tow Package.

I would have loved to pick and choose some of the options myself, but the TRD OR w/ tow was the minimum trim that had the features I needed at any local dealership.

I had a 2006 TRD Sport loved it. but this time around I bought a 2011 SR5 Pre-Runner with Tow kit saved the money. Added my own 3" lift 18" Mamba Wheels and 33" BFG Rugged Terrians ,TRD cold are intake and TRD exhust to start with. My 2006 did not come with the intake or exhust so why pay for the TRD. THis time around the money I saved by not buying the TRD I spent and made the truck all my own.....

I just purchased a 2011 TRD Off Road 4X4, tow pkg, V6, crew cab. I have had several Taco's and this is the first that has had very comfy seats. The sticker listed them as sport seats, not stock and they are more supportive and padded than stock.:p

That is exactly why I didn't get it this time. I think it's a rip off really. I was planning on replacing the wimpy stock suspension with an OME setup so why would I pay extra for the TRD suspension? I've had several TRD Tacomas in the past and the stock suspension wears out fairly quick. Also I am planning on getting front and rear air lockers so I didn't need the TRD locker. I saved 2k which will go a long way towards the mods I want to make.
