reputation?

I saw this the other week and didnt know what exactly it was. then i started getting points in it and just wondering all in all what it was. and is there any way to see the past reputation?

See the little green block under your post count and location? The more rep u have the higher it goes. So after a while you can tell who has good rep/bad rep on the board. If you get enough negative reps, that green block turns red. If you go to your User CP at the top of the page, you can see past reps given to you.

but you cant see who wrote it to rep back or see who's done it on the past? mine is only at like 12 now i think

I just looked at my User CP, and I don't see anything on there about reputation. Is mine broke, or do I just not have any (which is at least equally as possible/probable)?

I don't think this board was really set up for rep to be used the way it is on other boards.

On the Carolina Panthers board I spend a lot of time on you can go in and give people rep on threads/comments/etc and its right there on the post. As for the way rep works, I will look for the write-up on a detailed description of how it works on most boards.

When it comes to football and all things obscure. He is pretty brilliant.

You begin acquiring rep power after 50 posts. The rep power is what is displayed as a user's reputation near those little green bars. I think the way the bars are displayed shows how close you are to the next point, but I'm not sure about that.

For every 500 posts you make, you get one reputation power point. You also get points for how long you've been registered on these boards, but I haven't caught the jump enough to figure that one out yet, you're going to have to get Zod to fess up on that one.

You also have reputation points. These can be viewed in the user control panel. To determine the reputation points impact on your reputation power, divide that number by 300. For instance, I have a reputation power of 191. My reputation points are 53085. I have over 5,500 posts. 53085/300=176.95, rounded to 177. Add in 11 points for my post count and you get 188. The other three points are either from the time I've spent on the board, administrator intervention, or a part of the formula I'm missing. You might get points for different posting milestones as well, but I'm not sure it's that complex.

Obviously the most influential number you have is your reputation points total. This is determined by other posters. If they like what you have to say, or just want to give you rep for any reason, they can do so by clicking the scale icon next to the post. That takes their reputation power and adds it to your reputation point total. So, if someone with a reputation power of 300 gives you rep, your power will go up one immediately. If someone with a power of 10 does, it won't make much of an impact. This is why you ALWAYS suck up to Cooter, Northern Hawk, Scrum, Jester, and anyone else with a high rep (besides Ms. Skyy, because there are some things that just aren't worth it).

If someone does NOT like what you say, they can give you negative rep. That will remove half their reputation power from your total points. This is often a good thing to use on people who root for the Eagles. This used to be a good tool for dealing with trolls, because if someone had negative rep they would only be able to post in the smack forum until enough people gave them positive rep to get out of it. I think that feature is gone now though.

You can give reputation to a maximum of five posts in a 24 hour period. You must give reputation to 20 people before you can give it to the same person twice.

If someone has a black dot icon instead of a green bar, it means that they have turned off the reputation display. As you can see, this doesn't really work because they still get points and can still give them.

there should be a section under the new subscribed threads that has the reputation...unless u have none...and i just wish u could see who posted the rep...lol...this is one that i got, but i know who it is...lol....."You're such a jerk. Thank you!"

how many reputation points can be added to your points??? reason i ask is because, last night, i had 22 total rep points, and today, even without recent neg rep, i was back down to 13 points!!! what gives??

mine dropped from 17-18 to 9....and thats been in the last few hours...and i havent received any bad rep either...i know what it is......*DUM DUM DUM*.....THE MASTER!!!!! its gotta be!
