But if he wants to sell them after an upgrade, the TRDs will be worth more then the non-TRDs. Get 'em back...

So , on a trd offroad 2010 model , they should not change my front shocks ... correct?

I had the TSB done on my non TRD 08 Prerunner in March 2011. The dealer replaced all 4 shocks & the bump stops. Unfortunately, I didn't get yellow TRD shocks. They put on 4 non TRD black shocks.

Yes. Just like you are/were. The TSB is very clear if you read the whole thing. The dealerships and most people just jump right to their section and thats it. If you read everything, its clear (and common sense) that TRD shocks are better then non TRD shocks, however all stock shocks from 2009 to present do not need to be replaced. If you look at the parts list needed for a 2009-2011, there are no shocks listed

    correct

    exactly

Thats what it would seem like. Strange, but a free upgrade is a free upgrade.

Had the TSB done yesterday on my 2011 DC TRD OR, changed the springs and left my blue/yellow shocks. Truck rides great!

I'm at the dealer now getting my old yellow shocks put back on. They showed me the tsb that they had printed out and where the parts list was. They only printed three pages not the entire document. I turned to the page that showed only the leaf springs and they are taking care of it.

On another note my 2011 purchased in March is showing up in the computer as a 2010? Any thoughts on that?

As mentioned, when I took my 09 in for the TSB, it stated all non TRD trucks would get springs and the TRD Bilsteins. TRD models only received new springs. My truck was built in 08, I took delivery in August of 08, so maybe they started installing these new shocks on the 09's + after my truck was built? And, the wording of the TSB is different today...
But to the OP - I am glad to hear you got your shocks back, even with your plans to install 5100's. You could sell them to help pay for the 5100's down the road if you want to. You will like the 5100's, nice shocks for the money :D

I've managed to add some bug guts to the front
My brand new '11 Tacoma Double Cab TRD Sport is supposed to come into the dealership this Tuesday from the factory. I was wondering if this TSB rough ride thing is something I should ask about before I pick it up. From what I've read, it looks like you have to come in and "complain" about a rough ride. I also don't want them to swap my shocks out. If they did this before I picked it up, I would have no clue if they swapped them or not.

I had the TSB done on my 2011 DC 4x4 Sport and they only changed out the springs and did an alignment--no shocks.

So is the rough ride that the TSB is for a thing that is current only while towing or loaded down or is it all the time? Ive noticed on the highway a few times if i hit a bump or rough patch the truck jumps all over the place that doesnt feel quite right.

I have a 2010 TRD sport, crew cab. Did the TSB, they changed the shocks, I ended up with the lame black shocks. Truck is not sagging anymore when I town my boat, but everyday ride and bumps are rough! Quality of ride went down... Now I am looking into buy the Blinstein for the back. I already have them in the front with 1.75 and that has been nice.
    Cheers.
