Hi everyone! I am new to the forums but not new to Toyota Trucks. My first truck was a 1980 Toyota pickup that was bought new by my father. A hand built flatbed and a few hundred thousand miles later it made its way down to my brother in the late 90s. After he got tired of it and moved onto a larger truck I was handed they keys to the "yota" as we called it. I found a regular bed in a junkyard (with plenty of holes) and we sent off for another 22r engine. I spent the next few years driving that truck like a madman and it refused to die. When I look back I shudder when I think of the hell I put that truck through. Talk about some fun times haha.

After I left school I joined the military and went through a few newer vehicles but ended up back with a 02 Tacoma 4x4 extended cab. That truck was rock solid but I had the idiotic notion that I needed a full size truck... so I got rid of the tacoma (sold it for dirt cheap in 04 to a kid my age at the time). I tried a fullsize truck out and managed to almost back over a geo metro. To be fair the idiot driving the geo was so close behind me that I couldnt see him over my lift/tires/tailgate. lol After that gas prices got really bad and my insurance got damn near unbearable so I went ahead and got a Honda Accord 4door. Ugh... commuter cars.

Years passed... and I have been eyeing new tacomas for awhile because I know they are the best trucks on the planet. Well recently things lined up and I was able to finally get my dream truck!

An 09 Tacoma 4x4 DC TRD-OffRoad in Grey! I don't think there is a chance in hell that this smile is going to be leaving my face for a long time. So hey I look forward to boring you all to death with more "yota" stories of the past and future. Oh and you can bet as soon as I get up into the snow this weekend I will be taking plenty of pictures. I know its stock and all... but hey I can't resist. Damn it feels good to be home :D

Thanks! Since I left home around 2002 the 80' has been parked collecting more poison oak leaves and cob webs but very soon I plan on pulling it out (with the 09' lol) and I will take some pictures of them together. I can't wait to restore it and i'm sure there is a ton of info here that will help.

50 bucks says that once you pull it out, put in new fluids and gas, and a battery it'll start right up.

Welcome to TW! Glad to hear of a little Toyota heritage. It'll be cool to see old and new side by side, and you you'll get a little xtra respect when I see it (restored or not).
