Ok, this started last night while driving to the store, I noticed everytime I hit the brake the left turn signal light in the dash came on, I assumed I had a left brake light out..

After getting home I had my gf hit the brakes, there was no brake light out or any light for that matter. I did notice the left front and rear turn signal lights came on when hitting the brake.

I been told a short in the 7pin would cause it but I unpluged it and it still does it. Both tail lights are stock, only had the passenger one out to replace a bulb.

How would I go about finding out whats causing it?

Is your turn signal switch going 100% back to center? Other than that, I would check all your grounds, a bad ground can cause some strange things.

I assume your seeing the signal come on in the dash as well.. I am not 100% familiar with the Tacoma's wiring, but usually there is a plug near the rear axle that branches out to your tail lights and trailer harness. disconnect here and see if it still does it.

Definetly sounds like a shorted wire. I'll look up a wiring diagram and see what I can find.....

Turn signal switch is centered, and I tried unplugging the trailer harness with no luck. Ill check grounds tomorrow

Do you have trailer wiring? I've heard on the 1st gens that trailer wiring can cause this same issue. Might want to start there. There is a 30amp fuse and a relay for the towing circuit in the engine compartment fuse block, pull those out and see if it does it.

Edit: Just re-read first post and you already tried this......

    Here's the wiring diagram.

Maybe try pulling the relay or fuse for the tail lamps and see if it goes away. If it does then you know it's in the rear. Or check the ground on the frame rail.

Electrical gremlins! I wish you the best of luck.

My first car, 93 Chevy Lumina, had one. Every time I hit the left turn signal AND turned left, the car would die? Haha, just stopped using the left turn signal.
